Tach stop working. Checked continuity from coil to Tach, good and Tach ground continuity good.
All other instruments works fine.
Any suggestions??April 1, 2012 at 1:06 pm #249935I hear you about continuity. That’s good. Try your dwell tach at the dashboard using the tach ground and the wire to the coil. Probably won’t work either. Sorry to say, but I suspect that, after checking the wiring (as you have) the tach may have called it quits (pretty rare) but it happens.
April 1, 2012 at 2:16 pm #249936Roy you might be right regarding the Tach. dying. I am sure it was old when I got the car probably from the 70’s. I am still learning and wanted to check and make sure I was covering the bases in checking it out.
I planned on pulling the dash this summer to replace all the instruments, and refinish it, along with going through all the eclectric wiring and updating it. So if the Tach is indeed shot not a big deal.April 1, 2012 at 2:26 pm #249937If you need one, I have one to sell.

Bought it a couple years back on ebay. Wrong size (I was converting to bigger instruments) but they wouldn’t take it back. This one’s about 3 3/8 inches. Let me know if you’re interested.
April 2, 2012 at 9:28 am #249938Thanks for the offer.
I purchased the instruments some time ago which I intended to install later this year.April 6, 2012 at 11:49 pm #249939The tach in my red one with the Chevy engine (Mr August, 2012) is not working. If I have to replace it, what size is this one, Ed?
April 7, 2012 at 8:24 am #249940It’s a 3 3/8-inch “White Hot” series Classic Instrument tach. Seems to be a standard size for aftermarket instruments and very much the common size for TD Replicas. Fits in a 3 3/8-inch hole in the dash and the edge of the bezel looks to be a little more than 3.5 inches.
Definitely look at your hookup wire to the coil first, and check your grounds. That often brings ’em back to life.
