Cleared out the storage unit some and got the kit ready to start the build. I still have the main body, front fenders, and the engine lid still in storage. But here’s the kit. The 2nd and 3rd photo show the scratches on the rear fender and after I repaired them. Used the 3000 grit pad from the Scratch X plastic headlight lens kit and lightly hand rubbed it. Then cleaned it and waxed the fender. After, all you could see in the fender was the reflection of the clouds above.

    Allen,

    Good luck!

    Share the build with us!

And in case you are wondering about the “edited by pmossberg”, all I did was reduce the size of the first picture a little to allow the post text to appear without the left/right scrolling.

    Allen,

    Who is the kit manufacturer?

What platform will you build it on?

Nice fender repair. Where’s the before picture?

    BD,

The kit is a CMC Fiberfab kit that I’m going to put on a 71 Beetle chassis.

Here’s the before picture showing the scratch on the fender.

Be sure and take lots of detailed pics of your build and post them. Even the smallest details will be of some help to someone.

    Allen,

In the hope that you will continue to update this thread, I changed the title to add “CMC Fiberfab” and “VW”

Hopefully this will make it easier for the next CMC Fiberfab builder to find your build thread.

Cool beans. Thanks Paul. More photos to come as I do the build. Pulling the body off the beetle at the moment.

You can have fun with before and after pictures with that one.

    Paul,

Just a thought but would it be better to have this topic in the MY Project area of the forum? It might make it easier for folks to find with it with the other project builds. If you think so then go ahead and move it there.

Good idea to move this thread to the “My Project” forum. Done!

Good to see you get started on your build Allen. I like many others will be anxious to see photos. I was looking at your doner car pics and see you will be doing a pan rebuild. I hope you document this part as this will be a great opportunity to share some great information. I myself have patched pans that need to be redone.

Good luck to you on the build.

I have the rebuild photos of my 74 VW Karmann Ghia Coupe in  my on-line photo album. In there I should have some of the chassis build as I did a body-off rebuild. It can be seen at http://www.fotki.com/Allen1209 and look in the Ghia folder. You can peruse through the car shows as well.
