For those of you who have added a floor on your trunk area running from in front of the battery to the grille, how did you mount it? Did you use 1/4-inch wood or what material?

December 29, 2014 at 2:10 pm #262530My FF has a 1×1 bolted to the bulkhead just above the top of the battery box. There’s an L-shaped bracket on each side in the front, using the bolts that connect the cowl sides to the radiator/grille nosepiece. I plan to use 1/2″ plywood trimmed to fit. While sacrificing a bit of possible space, this gives a totally flat floor in front of the gas tank while serving as a cover over the battery box.

Slowly coming back from the ashes...December 29, 2014 at 6:11 pm #262531L brackets with studs that stick up so I can put the floor on them, the studs fit through holes in the plywood floor, and then washers and nuts go on the studs so it all stays put.
The brackets–OEM BCW parts, I believe–are riveted to the fiberglass battery box and were also bolted to the front insides of the lower bonnet pieces. When I re-did the space to make room for the fan shroud I relocated them to the aluminum fan shroud and riveted them to that.December 29, 2014 at 9:03 pm #262532Thanks folks for the replies. I have some 1 x 1s left over from a home project
and a lot of L brackets and rivets. Now that I know how you made the mounts for the floor I think I can go the rest of the way. Thanks.Allen Caron
