    Roy, put it together….

Tow the car to Julie’s brothers house, picking up Schu and Ed on the way. From here we pick up Paul and make a parade of it.

Roy,, it is hard for people to understand what up state NY. is about, unless they have spent time up there . Bad roads, twists and turns, we would enjoy going to Hunter Mt. from the Kingston side. some great  parties up there 40 plus years ago. Hawks nest to Port. to the “Poke in the nose”all the girls , and the summer camps, is Sullivan and Ulster county Wink what a great place and time to live.  Dan

“Dopes not Dope.” Sounds right. Though I would still burn one if anyone offered. And I wasn’t driving. And didn’t have work in the morning. And . . .

Bill (aka Patina Bill) re “put it together”: if nominated, I will not run, if elected, I will not serve. Sorry, I will consult, but it has been ages since I lived up there.  You are a lot more local than I am any longer.  Plus, you guys all have a bunch of years on me (or is it the other way around?).  Also, it seems that I’m the only one not working, so you guys all have schedules and vacations etc to work in.  I would be quite iffy only because it would involve a whopping number of road miles.  The only 2013 conflict that I see is Carlisle.  (Plus Julie’s brother and wife may get tired of us visiting twice in one summer.)  How about the weekend before or the weekend after Carlisle, – then it would only be one, albeit extended, visit?  Maybe we could get some other TDers to join the fun?

Ed could get a grant from his newspaper, write up the Caravan as The Other Great Escape and get rich.

If I could afford it, I would move to Elverson Pa and then have fun with all the great country roads of the area.  New Bern is pretty in a flat and boring way.  Definitely not Jane Mansfield like touring (but the winters are nice and mild).
Just let me know when you are going to have the parade.  I won’t want to miss the fun.
If you wanted to spend the night, I might get my brother to put us all up “at the Lake”, our old family cottage in Roscoe.  Bring a pup tent, the Lake only has 4 bedrooms.  You would get to drool over his XKE and cherry TR3 along with his 1949 F1 Ford truck and a few other licensed vintage Jags.  And now he’s finishing up building a total electric Yugo.  (Yes I said a Yugo.)

When i was 17-18 years old I played a guitar in a band. Our lead guitar was a lefty the same as Hendrix much of our music was his. We were very popular at high school and and teen centers in the area. As for going to Woodstock i am very interested.

Summer ’13 outing to Woodstock? Long weekend perhaps?

Where can I fit a guitar in my MG?

I agree Dan…the Hawk’s Nest is TERRIFIC! Was a regular outing for the old NJRC gang.

Ed will get the event funded! (I like the way you think Roy!)

Roy will bring free Pepsi from New Bern…which as we all SHOULD know, is the birthplace of Pepsi.

Bill already created half the t-shirt … “Peace, Love and Dopes” LOL!

Never made it to Woodstock. My commanding officer in Viet Nam wouldn’t let me go TDY. Glad you guys went for me!

    Dudes? Funding? From a newspaper??!

Do you guys even read newspapers? I can’t hardly even get my salary funded these days.

If I wasn’t otherwise unemployable I’d be getting a new job right about now.

Ed…for the record YES I do read the newspaper. But ours is yesterdays news delivered this morning. Wish we had an afternoon paper. That’d be great. And yes I do have the old vinyl records. All three sizes (LP, 45s and 78s), an 8-track player, and a 1930s Underwood typewriter with original ribbon (types in pencil). Olde dude aren’t I?  LOL

Paul, I found a very Woodstocklike solution to your guitar transport problem.  What you need is a not too elegant solution, – see below.  A beater guitar like my old aluminum and plastic Applause (not shown) worked well on my boats.  It’s only got to be good for one 23 minute verse of Alice’s Restaurant.
If it’s not too difficult, it might be a good idea to change the title of this Woodstock parade thread to “TDr Woodsthawk 2013” or something more descriptive than “two days…..”.
And Ed, “I feel your pain.”

Nope, I sold my Gibson L48 f hole jazz guitar to my next door neighbor John Mooney (look him up on youtube) when I realized that my talent wasn’t worthy of such a fine piece.  The one in the photo is just a very early Cort.

I’m liking this idea, Roy. But thinking to keep the guitar in its case and use leather hood straps. Just buckle in an extra belt to go over the case!

I know you guys are kidding…but no way!

Don’t want the scratches on the car from the case…and don’t want the potential damage to the guitar from banging around on the fender and in the wind. Just sayin’….

Ed, you play the guitar also?  I think that the fender mount looks very very Woodstocky.  I was not trying to show the whole “mount” – just the idea.  At risk of hijacking the thread, I can’t help but ask: How many guitar players do we have here?  I don’t really play the guitar any more but I play the organ (as in a big organ with pedals).  No, not church music.  I really can’t figure out how to get my full pedalboard Technics F100 on the fender of my MiGi.

Looking like I’ll have to get working on the calluses for a 2013 Hootenanny.  (I still own a 12vdc portable PA system.:D)

You can add one more guitar player to the grouip. Rock band in the 60’s.

My old alto sax is stashed in a closet. Haven’t touched it in a decade or so. Would love to say I play but it’d be a lie.

Add me to the guitar players list. I’ve got a Gibson Country Western,a Yamaha, a Blue Ridge and two Alvarez guitars. I play at our church and also as part of a Rest Home Ministry.

OK, Paul.  You win the who has/had the most guitars contest.  But, what, no acoustic beater?  It seems that playing (at least a little bit) a guitar was/is a prerequisite to owning a TDr.  Who’da thunk??

I keep thinking about adding one of these for travel:

The SurfCity is the closest to a “beater”. American made, at a ridiculously low price, like $249 or somethign like that. But no longer in production. Company was based in California.
