The date looks set for October 14, although registration is not yet open. Hope that we can get some new “blood” to attend this year.
The usual (more than 1 show) suspects: Paul, Bill, Ed, Schu, Vicenc, Jack & Roy.
It’s just a one day “show” starting usually about 0900 and going until about 4PM. We all usually arrive the afternoon of Friday, for a 2 day stay at the Oceanfront Inn. They have always had ample parking at reasonable off-season rates and all rooms overlook the Ocean. Depart for home or wherever on Sunday morn after breakfast.
Drive or tow. Wives etc are welcome. Even other non-TDr cool cars are brought: Paul once brought his Porsche replica and Roy brought his classic (everything before year 2000) Austin Mini Cooper (which because of rather extensive improvements since 2016 may be brought again this year). Attendees are usually invited to drive each other’s cars and it’s a great opportunity to compare notes.
We will post particulars when it gets a bit closer and they are available.
July 23, 2017 at 3:50 am #303780Ah, Roy, you beat me to it, but not by much.

"Drive Happy"July 23, 2017 at 9:20 pm #303782Hey Roy! Yeah. I’m in. Hoping to share a room with someone this year as we’re heading for some lean times at chez Eduardo. Dale—let me know if you’re up for it.
July 24, 2017 at 8:41 pm #303790Sure Ed – Sounds like a plan unless I can talk my wife into coming this year.
We have been down in the off season a couple of times since last year and she loves it so maybe this is the year.
I will get with you before we lock down a room.
July 26, 2017 at 12:31 pm #303805Love this event…but am a definite maybe this year.
Trying to schedule my third surgery of the year. One foot procedure and one meniscus repair already done. One more foot deal to go. The best time may be mid to late September. I’ll be off my feet for four to five weeks post-op. Stay tuned….

July 26, 2017 at 7:09 pm #303812The phone # for the Oceanfront Inn is 757 422 0445. Tell them that you are with the group of TDr’s going to the Air and Auto Car show at the Military Aviation Museum in Pungo. My room is booked ($72 per night). It’s still early and they do not have any large (one year they had a large wedding booked, but we squeezed in) reservations yet, but the early bird………etc.
Sorry, but I forgot to ask about their cancellation policy.
I should say that we really need some club newbies to come so we old-timers can wow you with our comprehensive knowledge of all things TDr as well as ALL other subjects du jour.
There promises to be many really super nice cars as well as lots of really nice super cars (Ferrrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Porsche, Mini Cooper 🙂 etc) as well as cars that are still in some phase of restoration. Two years ago there were two Mercedes 380SLs. (One was a gull-wing.)
The local Porsche club sponsors the event and they have been really good to us, even offering two special awards for those from the TDr club. Profits from the event go to the local Humane Society.
July 27, 2017 at 7:01 am #303813Hey Folks — Looking forward to it!!
Ed, I did not get to see your fiberglass and paint handiwork since I did not make Carlisle this year — I’d love to hear the tale first hand — and see the finished product!!
I second the invite to folks who have not made it to Va Beach for the event in the past — it is a GREAT venue — plus we have found some really wonderful (where the “locals” go) restaurants within walking distance to the hotel.
So good food, good fun, GREAT venue and fine old cars — and oceanfront accommodations — what more is there?

August 17, 2017 at 8:53 am #303881I just got this registration invitation email from George Michaels who is the point man organizer for the event. Please post on this forum (as well as registering) to keep TDr members up to date on your intentions. We always have fun. It’s a fun event. Please consider.
Greetings Air & Auto Classic attendees, Thank you for your past support of our charity car show. Your attendance helps make each year better than the last. Air & Auto Classic 7 in 2016 raised $9500 for charity, despite Hurricane Matthew rolling through town the week prior. We're shooting to beat that this year, so we welcome you, your family and friends to come out and help us do that! If you're a business owner and/or would like to be a show sponsor, we welcome that as well; just reply to this email. Air & Auto Classic 8 will return to the Military Aviation Museum on 14 October (28 October rain date). Horizons Hampton Roads and the Foodbank of Southeastern VA and the Eastern Shore will benefit from all the proceeds. Aside from all the cool cars, the show will feature live music, great food, beer and wine along with raffles and prizes, not to mention the Museum's fabulous collection of vintage aircraft. The Museum will be offering vintage plane rides again and there will be a few vendors on hand peddling their wares. Show and registration info is on our website: www.fsrpca.org. Just scroll down and click on the Air & Auto Classic logo, or go direct to http://msreg.com/air-autoclassic8. You can register online, download and print a hard copy registration form to mail, RSVP by email or just show up at the gate. If you're proud of it, bring it! We hope to see you there! Regards, Your Air & Auto Classic Team First Settlers Region - Porsche Club of America
August 17, 2017 at 9:50 am #303885Please don’t forget to register for Rock Star parking. I am arranging that we can all be together with prime time parking, on the asphalt, right in front of the hangars, regardless of what interesting auto you bring. (This assumes that we all arrive together “parade-like”.)
August 17, 2017 at 1:54 pm #303886News Flash: Just heard from George, he says that Rock Star parking is 1/2 sold out already.
Apparently they had to “cut back on Rock Star parking” for some reason. Please register early. He is trying to hold a block of space for us, but it’s a bit iffy. No promises.
August 17, 2017 at 7:44 pm #303888Hey All:
Well, Roy’s verbal KITA about not waiting to register for Rock Star Parking got me off dead center and onto the Air and Auto Classic Web Site/ So I’m now registered for the show!!
…Time for the rest of you to follow suit
See you all there!! —
Happy JackAugust 17, 2017 at 7:54 pm #303889Registered for Rock Star Parking.

August 17, 2017 at 8:43 pm #303890I received the same email. Picked up the phone and got my room at the Oceanfront.

"Drive Happy"August 17, 2017 at 9:03 pm #303891I just went on to the Air & Auto site to see what else was registered. Imagine my surprise when I failed to see my name on the entrant list. I thought I registered back in a July.
Jack, I see you’re bringing the Bug Eye. I am requesting a ride.

August 18, 2017 at 3:18 pm #303895…just booked my room — It seems that we get a 15% discount when we say we are a returning guest!! Who would have guessed it!!
…They did try to up-sell me into a room with a King sized bed but I told them “it had to be a joke” that either Bill or Royal put them up to…??? At 5′ 3 1/2″ tall I have never been called “King Sized.” (Portly, maybe, but never King Sized)
