Glad you have her back on the road Paul. That Plymouth sitting beside her is pretty darn cool too.

"Drive Happy"June 30, 2012 at 11:06 am #241515Thanks guys.
Roy, builder ordered me to do an oil change and valve check in 300 to 400 miles.

Nothing overly pretty…just a basic, clean Type 1:

June 30, 2012 at 11:11 am #241516And a postmortem on the old burned up 1641…engine got so hot it burned an 1/8th inch hole below the left rear spark plug. Hole was so clean it looked like it was drilled with a water jet cutter!
I let Ed, my builder, keep it.
He has a beautiful VW micro bus, but now he’s a little jealous. The engine is all chromed out. But it’s a 1641. He was actually done with my engine late Wednesday. But kept the car so he could do several road tests…like taking it to lunch on Thursday and Friday. LOL. He’s very happy with the way the car moves out.

June 30, 2012 at 11:14 am #241517And one other thing….
He left the rear part of the tin off. The cylinder head tins are on of course. But not the piece that drops below the crank pulley or the piece that would seal to the back of the Bug engine compartment.
There’s no way to seal off the front of the engine compartment in my TD.
But he said the space is so open, that general airflow is so good, the rear tins were a waste of time.
As long as I keep the rodents out!!!!:x
Also, I bought a new dog house shroud. But it’s too tall for the engine cover.
Anyone want it?
Or the rear tins?
