    Please forgive as I am a newbee.
    Does the 1600CC engine take transmission fluid?
    If so, where would the dipstick be and where is the fluid put in?

    No, Jack – the engine only takes engine oil- I use plain 30W in my 74.  If your chassis has a manual transmission, it uses 90W gear oil.  If you have an automatic, it takes transmission fluid, and will have a dipstick.
