The assembly manual and instruction sheet that came with the windshield both say to secure the bottom piece of the frame to the windshield with a construction screw on each side. Neither say what size screw, whether to countersink the screw or not or if the screw goes into the same groove as the lower frame gasket. What size screw do you folks use and are they countersunk? My plan is to countersink the screws
and use a #8 x 1-1/4 Oval Phillips Head Stainless Steel Sheetmetal Screw.Allen Caron

Yes to all your questions. Screw size sounds correct, you want to threads to catch the same channel the lower gasket slips into, and counter sink the screw heads.
Download this section of the Classic Roadsters Ltd. Duchess assembly manual:
And start reading from page 1 of the PDF (which is page 57 of the manual)

October 19, 2015 at 5:02 pm #265817Paul. Your Duchess link was great except for the Fiberfab frame I had to use #8 x 1 inch rather than #8 x 1/2 inch. The 1/2 inch screw threads would barely reach the frame piece. 1 inch worked just right. Thanks.

The#8 by 1/2 mentioned in the manual are for attaching the wind wing brackets.
The two screws for the frame bottom were 1″, or 1 & 1/4″
They really just have to hold the frame together while you assemble it. Once attached to the car, the two mounting bolts on each side of the frame take the tension away frem those two screws.
