New guy here in need of some help.
Does anyone have or know where to get a electrical schematic
for a LR. Its on a VW platform. I don’t know the VW year
nor did the PO. Whoever built this car loved wire. Miles and miles of it. Some where along the line the actual ignition switch was abandoned.
I have no power to the bottom 5 fuses and an empty pole on a 75 amp switch, hot on one side. Any ideas on where the other side should go.
Car will not startThanks for any and all help,

But a full set of schematics are available in the Download Manuals section for a VW based ClLassic Roadsters Ltd Duchess. Should at least get you off to a good start.

June 30, 2013 at 4:43 pm #257030my fiberfab was a nightmare. I found some guys in fla. selling a complete harness for under 150 and I’m just starting over. sounds like you will save yourself a lot of head aches starting over.but if you want to save your current wireing ( no pun intended). do one circuit at a time, don’t think of it as one large system
June 30, 2013 at 5:20 pm #257031AnonymousInactivePhil:Time to take a look at engine serial number. Serial number will get a ball park year engine was built. Use that as a base for the wiring year. Samba VW site has engine serial numbers and what years they were used in.
I would check serial # of engine and check Samba VW site for year manfactured. Will give a ballpark for year of wiring diagram needed. Diagrams are on Samba site.I would look at the coil wiring Find the +wire on coil and trace it back towards dash were it goes. It should lead to a wire un attached if your switch is removed. Also check starter solenoid post 16 and follow it to were it goes It should end near coil wire. There will be a wire to battery power and a wire to the fuze box. Four wires minimun go to the ignition switch.Wire to fuse box will provide power to several fuses when ignition switch is in on position.Mark the ends of your wire as to what they go to. VW parts have # marked on posts #on post is what wire connects to it.Ohm meter and wiring diagram are your friends. Check one wire at a time and re check wires were they go. Take your time and have fun.July 16, 2013 at 10:37 am #257032Hi Phil,
I moved your post and all reponses to the VW based car section. This was originally in the “Rules & Etiquette” section. Didn’t belong there. And yes guys, Paul is back on his soapbox this morning. FrankieD set up a very well organized forum here. A place for everything and everything in its place.Paul Mossberg
