David finally got his transmission sorted out. Different gear sets with a steeper final drive.
That, and he’s young and invincible.

This last weekend was the Duryea Hillclimb. Due to weather and the large number of novices it started late. I only had one run before lunch. On my second run in turn 10 my pcv hose separated and threw oil on the distributor. Even though it spit and bucked the last mile to the finish I took .4 seconds off my first run. I nailed the bottom end of…[Read more]

I just went on to the Air & Auto site to see what else was registered. Imagine my surprise when I failed to see my name on the entrant list. I thought I registered back in a July.
Jack, I see you’re bringing the Bug Eye. I am requesting a ride.

I received the same email. Picked up the phone and got my room at the Oceanfront.

As far as cutting the coils, each coil removed increases the spring rate apx. 10%. The Ford springs rode like a rock. Consider a spring shop if the ride is too rough.

Initially, so was mine. I really got tired of fighting with it every time I had to work back there I reversed the positions. I have never had a problem with anything coming loose. But you are correct, originally the hat was under the cover.

Mine is not on a VW, but I had run 205/60R15 on the front with 235/60R15 on the rear with no problem. I now keep the same size front and rear.(what do you do when you have a flat?)

Very good. That’ll work.

OK, finally, I got this picture to appear. (Took a half hour).
This cover is currently removed as the roll cage is still installed. Hillclimb Aug 19-20. I use large body clips that accept 5/16″ bolts. The hat simply bolts fast.
You’ll see along the top edge are the mounting holes for bolting the cover to the body tub. These can only be reached…[Read more]

Do NOT glass that in. You need to remove the hat to not only access the fuel sender and filler neck, but it’s the only access to the bolts that hold the rear cover to the body tub on that top edge. Once you put the tire on that hat, what’s behind it is hardly visible.

billnparts replied to the topic Ford kit front strut removal in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 8 years, 2 months ago
The original MustangII front suspension used a strut rod that attached rearwards of the lower control arm and attached with rubber bushings to an angled bracket that bolted to the frame. There are companies that offer the lower arm as strutless and as such have no provision for the strut. Make sure the arms you’re using are strutless before you…[Read more]

It’s just that the last several years when we have gotten together most cars have been red. Unless Roy showed up with his white car, I’ve always been the odd duck.
The VA Beach event hasn’t been posted yet, but should be sometime mid October.
