  • Hi Spike that gives me a clue for the rims anyway.  I retired Sept 13, so about the same time as you, I know Mildenhall and Upper Heyford.  I have lived all over the world as a kid and adult, so when I left the UK in 99 I had a choice to go anywhere In the world, I chose to come to the USA. To many years living on US bases as a kid. Dad was mi…[Read more]

  • Hi Guys.Well I carried out such check and you all advised and come to the conclusion that the idle fuel solenoid is the culprit. Add that to the list of things to do etc. Thanks to you all.I am still thinking about moving the passenger footwell back (meaning towards the front of the car) a few inches. Has anyone done this and has a idea just how…[Read more]

  • Hi Spike. Looks like my car needs the fuel shut off solenoid. That should solve my fuel issue.  Do you still have the dimensions of the Daytons, such as the offset etc? They really work well on the car. I came to the USA April first 99, and moved to Austin TX. 18 months later a move to the greater bay area of San Francisco. I stayed in the Bay…[Read more]

  • Hi guys, Thanks for the input, I am on it today. I will post any results.  The biggest chore is of course starting the car from warm as the only way  you can do that is to floor the gas pedal and crank  it for a while until it fires. Then it will limp onto 4 cylinders. After  that its fine until you shut it off again. Regards from the desert in Azjohn

  • Hi Spike. Great look you have on the car. Looks to be a very similar colour to mine, mine is a really fine metal flake. It also needs a paint job! The big question I have for you is those wheels? They look perfect on the car. Do you have any details about them? Thanks John

  • Hi Guy, Thanks for the help Ray, really nice of you to do that. John

  • Hi Dave/George et al.I am also retired so learning something new might not be a bad idea!, I like saving money!  As for the boat people doing the job, I will have to look around. I live 30 miles or so out into the desert in Arizona boats are kind of in short supply but you never know what you can find if you look! LOL.My car came with no top of…[Read more]

  • Hi Spike, nice to meet you. We will have to get something going in this part of the world. Do you have any more TDrs in your area? This afternoon was the first time I really took the car out for a run. Ive been playing around with it all week. It really went well, to well sayeth the local Sheriff when he pulled me for speeding!!!!! But then he…[Read more]

  • Hi Guys, Im a newbie too. only had the car a week on Saturday. I read with interest the title issue on this thread. My car is titled as a 52 MG here in Az. The car came to AZ via California and Nevada. The car was never titled in NV by the then owner. Nv wanted to title it as a 68 VW. He basically said screw that and never did title it in NV.…[Read more]

  • Hi Schu, very little intel as to why the passenger footwell is so much shorter than the drivers. I have to try and work something else out other than what we have now. I moved the seat back 2″ and that helped some but nowhere near enough.  Keep in touch and we can share notes on what we find and how we fix it! Thanks John

  • Hi EdThank you for the prompt reply. What exactly am  I looking for with regard to the cooling tins? The fuel line is routed over the top of the tins and therefore away from the heat as much as possible. Jjb

  • Hi Guys Another newbie here in Az. I am in the Tucson region having taken ownership of my car on the 9th of May 15. The car has been in this area for 4 years but has only covered 4300 miles in that time. The ten owner purchased the car in Vegas, he in turn purchased the car in Socal. It  has a 68 frame with a 71 DP engine. The paint colour is a…[Read more]
