October 30, 2024 at 12:04 pm #309194Chevette based kit CMC un assembled complete no engine or trans, everything else, red. I have a 350 chev v8 and 4 speed that could be included. My plan was to build an open wheel vintage look hot rod. I could also include a car hauler trailer for additional.
Car kit is located in Colorado, can e-mail pictures on request

From your pictures you have only a body and fenders, no chassis or engine? from pictures yours appears to be the VW chassis kit.

April 14, 2022 at 9:37 pm #308045Slowly moving forward, made an Aluminum dash panel I intend to engine turn. I’m looking for an IRS rear axle assembly from either a 2002 up Thunderbird or a Thunderbird turbo coupe, for the front suspension I want to use a Fiero as they would be a direct bolt into the Chevette mounts. Hopefully this project can get moving this summer.
July 29, 2018 at 11:28 pm #305290Maybe, but I won’t be doin it, I was thinking (DANGER/WARNING) more like the mesh grill in a blower Bentley or the like.

Thanks, I’ll be able to find mounts a several sources for the chev v8 at Speedway, Summit, Jegs etc. I’m thinking (DANGER/WARNING) that I’m going to use the tube front mount from Speedway and the rear will be something like you used. I’m now thinking I’ll mount the front suspension about 18″ in front of the radiator shell, someone suggested I use a 70’s/80’s Alpha Romeo rear axle, good choice of ratios plus posi, certainly a cool looking unit, but I cant recall when I last saw one.

What motor mount did you use? what transmission and mount did you use? radiator? I noticed you mention front steering issues, I’m planning on using a Fiero complete front as it is a direct bolt in with a good amount of performance upgrades available.

My kit is a CMC I believe. You may recall seeing Chevettes with v8 conversions, although its been many years since I’ve seen a Chevette in any form. the v8 conversions were fairly common, the rear axle was the next weak point and I’ve seen an s-10 conversion useing the Chevette coil springs, mounts, etc. I was hopeing to find a complete conversion kit for the v8 in a chevette, I’m sure one exists somewhere, or some one thats done the conversion. My guess is, if you’ve done a v6 you’ve done a v8 technically speaking, all the mounts and locations would be close or the same, do you have pictures of your swap? The v6 swaps are common among these cars in Europe, Vauxals, Kadets, others

The Chevette has some major differences from the Pinto based car. My plan is to lower and extend the front suspension and lower and mount a different rear axle probably an s-10 the engine trans I have is a 1981 350 4 speed from a Camaro. The front will sit about 12″ ahead of the radiator. The front suspesion I want to use is from an 80’s Fiero a direct bolt in that gives 5 lug, larger disc brakes, etc. a direct bolt into the Chevette chassis. I’ve been looking around for a vintage type wheel and for the moment I have settled on the Rocket igniter wheel. I got invited to a hillclimb event in Baja Mexico. one of my previous unrelated racers can be seen at https://youtu.be/Dnecgj0idoY
