It will likely be next winter before the dash redo makes it to the top of the list… 😛 Tach, speedo and clock are all the same size. The tach is actually inside an old VW clock housing, in order to get matching bezel, mounting tabs etc. I will use the OEM trim pieces to recess them into dash and rear-mount them.Currently thinking of putting the…[Read more]

I went a slightly different path for my planned new dash. A 67-earlier VW speedo, with a Porsche 914 VDO tach modified with a face decal to match that speedo and look.
Though not my rebuilt speedo. Here’s a pic of a 67 speedo from eBay. I had the guy who cleaned and rebuilt it put a red needle with silver button to match the tach.Though the older…[Read more]

Maybe the metal trim used for Formica in 50’s might work. Could be a bit stiff to work with on tight corners.http://info.formica.com/blog/bid/120281/Giving-Retro-Laminate-Countertops-An-Edge See if any of the links in that post look like they’d work.

Hi, Here is a picture of my top cover. I bought it from MG MAGIC, 119.00 I think was the price. My top fits in perfect. I don’t have the side covers but believe there is also room to add them inside also.SpikeWell — that one looks about the same size as the one I have (except mine is black). Maybe I can learn how to fold…[Read more]

The “boot” that I have, that I described above, simply zips around the bows when they are down as shown below. It does not attach to the body at all, it just hides the bows and dresses it up… Meanwhile the storage behind the seat is readily available, though you must store the top and zip-in windows up front in the trunk — assuming you’re…[Read more]

I like that trunk area a lot also — though it makes me wonder what kind of custom fuel tank is in there underneath the fiberglass tub. Overall, the build quality is pretty impressive to me — which makes me think it really may be a “factory build”…

The boot for my convertible top only covers the bows, not the complete top folded down… You must take the fabric top off the bows first and store it separately. If that’s what you’re looking for, I see no reason why one wouldn’t fit all TDr’s.

Huge performance difference between the Vette and T-bird.The ’55 Vette was a 6 cylinder with only a 2-speed automatic. The ’66 T-bird was a small V-8 (292 or 312ci I think) and may have had a manual tranny available. The ’56 Vette was a 265ci V8 with a 3-speed manual tranny available in addition to the 2-speed PowerGlide..KentT2015-01-08 09:30:12

Appears to be an early FiberFab, and if it is like mine there’s a gap in between the bottom of the engine cover and the rear valence/splashpan near the body tub. I think it intended to primarily pull air in over the tranny….

My FF has a 1×1 bolted to the bulkhead just above the top of the battery box. There’s an L-shaped bracket on each side in the front, using the bolts that connect the cowl sides to the radiator/grille nosepiece. I plan to use 1/2″ plywood trimmed to fit. While sacrificing a bit of possible space, this gives a totally flat floor in front of the gas…[Read more]

I also use USAA for home, auto, life and banking. Have done so for almost 40 years. They’re the BEST business that I’ve used for anything – one phone call from anywhere will usually resolve any issue I might encounter.BTW, they use Progressive to insure RVs, motorcycles and ATVs…

The engines can handle unleaded fuel without adding anything, especially since dual-ports and later have hardened valve stems and valve guides…The problem with ethanol is that it causes many rubber and neopreme things like gas lines, seals, etc to soften and swell. Also, if parked for a long time, ethanol attracts moisture from the air –…[Read more]

Can’t recommend a whole distributor — you may want to consider just trying to find a points replacement module to replace the points in your original factory distributor.Though I have a Pertronix SVDA sitting here, unopened, I’m a bit reluctant to even try it until after significant road-testing. (I’m currently running an aftermarket 009 with…[Read more]
