Ed – you’re right, Tom, not Bob = brain fart.I’d try here again with a few pics of my car, labeled to try and avoid any computer confusion, but I have to figure out how to resize them down to a smaller format. Here’s one pic of the backyard/beachfront of my house, to see if it comes out.

Do we each have a separate photo gallery? How do I find mine to upload photos there, or do all the photos you post on the messages in the forum automatically go there?

Thanks for finding the problem – it may have been the extra characters in the title or name of the picture? That really shouldn’t matter, it’s just a link to the file on my computer isn’t it?As an aside – That first pic of the MG is Bob and Ray (Click and Clack) from Car Talk, cooking chicken burritos on the engine heat of an original MG. One of…[Read more]

One time I tried I got that picture in the little box on the right side but it wouldn’t show up in the preview of the post or in the post, so I deleted the post. Every time after that I try to upload a pic I do not even see the pic in that little box, and I get that error message each time. I still have my computer link to 2 pics in the box…[Read more]

It’s not the picture, it’s not my computer, or the browser – I can upload the pic I wanted to post on here and email it to myself. It has to be something with this site. I’ve even tried to upload a different pic on here and get the same error message.Google is no help with this.

That won’t wear out the tires faster? That may help a lot in my clearance issue with my front fenders making a sharp turn.I have a hard time looking at a “flat” tire on my car, but I am going to try that. What pressure are yo running on the rears?

Marc Lipsius replied to the topic suction cup mirror in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 2 months ago
You can get that same kind of mirror but probably larger and convex giving a wide field of view, from various marine outlets, used when pulling waterskiers. They may be too large for these cars tho.

Take some more, both attachments. That also is like having a locked door if you set it when you leave the car, makes it a little harder for someone to get in unauthorized. (Like that really matters a lot, but an added bonus maybe).

That’s a great idea and good insurance. I’ve often wondered about hitting a bump and having my door fly wide open.Where did you attach each end, the hook and the eye?

Marc Lipsius replied to the topic Electric Problem Possible Coil Help needed in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 3 months ago
If the wires are the same color, put on a dab of your wife’s nail polish on the wire and where you took it off to match them up again. Use different colors for different wires of you have many of them.Coils are a funny thing. Like I said they can test OK as far as the resistance of the windings. but still fail when in use because of the heat. The…[Read more]

If now you have a good spark and it won’t fire up then the problem has to be fuel related if you didn’t do anything to change the timing. What carburetor do you have? Have you cleaned it, removed the jets and made sure they’re not clogged with a spec of dirt or something? What electronic ignition did you put in and how is the timing on that set…[Read more]

Marc Lipsius replied to the topic Electric Problem Possible Coil Help needed in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 3 months ago
Not to say that the coil is your problem, but like I said before, a coil can test OK when cold, (testing resistance of the windings), and after it is used in riding for a while and gets heated up in the engine compartment, it may fail. Then it tests OK when cold again. Like mine did. After I replaced it, my car never stalled or quit again, and…[Read more]

The coil replacement is a no-brainer, just replace the wires to the new coil at the same position you took them off from the old coil. A 5 min job at the most, most of the time is taken by unbolting the old one and putting the new one into the bracket.
