Wheels are sold. Thanks
January 13, 2015 at 11:41 am #262427I sold my MGTD. I want to thank everyone that provided sound advise during the rebuild. I learned alot. I still have a brand new set of stock VW 4 lug wheels for sale in the box. I paid 250 for all 4 and will take 190. I live in Bradenton FL so let me know if you are near and would like to purchase them. Please send a personal message.
Thanks again,RickyDecember 17, 2014 at 12:49 pm #262426Dave,

December 11, 2014 at 12:42 pm #262324Thanks Royal. I feel a little better about giving it a go. I do like how the wire wheels look.
December 11, 2014 at 10:54 am #262322Royal,
You appear to have the same exact whire wheels and tire size that i have. Do you have any problem with balancing them? If i were to keep mine i would need new tires since mine came drie rotted from sitting for years. I am afraid to do that and still find out that they would not be balance. You are using tubes in your right?December 7, 2014 at 5:59 pm #262317And I just f kind out that my MGTD uses 4×100. I could sure use them but live in Florida so can’t pick them up

Sound like we are on the same path. I also put new floor pans, new brake line and brakes, cables, and now i am waiting on some new stock wheels. Please post pictures when you get your painted. I would like to paint mine also. Not sure what you did for the pans but I sprayed mine with bed liner called Raptor. Great stuff and give it texture.I am in the Bradenton area. Let me know if you are close byDecember 2, 2014 at 1:40 pm #262311help, no one answered my follow-up
December 2, 2014 at 9:40 am #262307Quick follow-up question. Was i right to go with the 4.5 or should i have gone with the 5.5?
ThanksDecember 1, 2014 at 8:42 pm #262306Thank you for quick response. Hopefully I will be able to get a good price on some locally
September 17, 2014 at 2:41 pm #261421Thanks for Reply. A Vintage VW place just figured out that it is some kind of regulator that was made for a rear defogger as far as the packaging he had. It actually had 5 wires connections and the one on mine was so rotted out that it only had 3 left. He believes that it was probably left over from the donor vehicle which may explain why it was not connected to anything.
September 17, 2014 at 8:50 am #261418This is what is left of the old relay. As you can see there was no floor pan left before. It was Fred Flinstone style.
August 30, 2014 at 11:30 pm #245050Welcome, I am still bringing mine back. I have learned so much from this site. I am close to getting the body back on and getting Miss Mary on the road. Enjoy
June 30, 2014 at 7:23 am #260584June 30, 2014 at 7:21 am #260583painted the pans with Raptor Bedliner Spray. They came out great. I also moved the Ebrake lines as recommended.
June 12, 2014 at 5:02 am #260592Oh wait is the tdr different from the MGTD?
June 12, 2014 at 5:01 am #260591I will take them. I d9 not have any for my car and it would save me a lot in restoring her. Do you have a paypal account. I can send you the money that way if you do. Let me know.
May 26, 2014 at 8:56 pm #260457Ok thanks for the input. I always like to get some input from those of you who have already been through restoring a td.
April 28, 2014 at 2:04 pm #260089good progress so far. Got the old pans off and did a little sand blasting. I am going to use the por 15 for the chassi once i get it all cleaned up. Got the new brake lines ready. This is really fun. I am enjoying and learning so much as i go along
April 16, 2014 at 5:20 pm #260088I took everyones advice and ordered the 18 gauge Wolfsburg West
April 14, 2014 at 2:32 pm #256550what gauge pans did you go with and are you still happy with that decision? I am getting ready to do mine and it look like it will cost me 169 apeace for 18 guage with another 112 for shipping. I can get some thinner one locally for 124 appeace no shipping and save a little. Just wondering if i need to spend the extra money.
April 14, 2014 at 11:37 am #260085Will do Mustang. I plan on doing as much as i can while I have the body off, new brake line, cable and so on. I am going to sand blast the chassi and undercoat it all. I saw something about a hydrolic emergency brake. Has anyone tried that?
April 14, 2014 at 10:13 am #260083Now the real work begins.
