A tough decision to make. 88 Vettes are really under appreciated. Tough to sell for a decent price even in vg condition. Probably won’t rise in price much either. That’s one of the reasons I’m looking to trade. The MG’s look like fun cars to drive around in.
Are the Chevette or Pinto engined ones more favorable than the VW’s?
Here’s the description from the ad.2.3l ford, c4 trans, mustang2 front suspension, front disc brakes rear

I may have found another MG TD Replica.
This time, no Snake in the Grass Dealer.
This is a nice Two tone green with a Pinto subframe, auto, heater and A/C. He says the belt is off the A/C compressor and doesn’t no if tit works. Has a Mustang 2 front end. I’m not sure what make it is, but was factory assembled and it is not a British Coach Works. 9,000 miles w/ spoked wheels although a little rusty.
He’s asking $9,000 or even trade for my 88 Vette. Is $9K high for this car if it’s decent condition?
Thanks for your support.
From the pics, it looks pretty good
October 8, 2011 at 10:47 pm #246817I don’t mind finding a car with some needs, the problem was that it was touted as A1, plus I trailered out my Vette 4 hrs one way fully intent on the trade. And then being insulted!
October 7, 2011 at 11:26 pm #246793I agree, I will check the numbers before going to the DMV. Thanks for the input.

When I was younger I had many muscle cars, 57 chevys, 65 GTO, 1978 Chevell and then family. Six kids and 10 grandkids later, it was time to have a real “car” and I never owned a Vette and always wanted one, but prices for the early years and new C5’s are out my reach. The 88 (C4) is a great car handling and some power, but it lacks the respect of the other classes. Plus I found it was difficult to sell even in a VG condition, so the TD popped up and I told my showed my wife and kids and their response was “wow, cool” plus I always did like the classic look of the early MG TD’s.
So tomorrow is the big day, now I can’t wait, although I’ll only have a few good driving days left this year as we are from Buffalo! Snows right around the corner.
Thanks again for the warm welcome and look forward to some chatting and hopefully meeting at some cruise in or car show in the future.
October 7, 2011 at 12:40 am #246784All I know it was made by British Coach Works and is built on 1986 Chevette frame. I’ll know more when I pick it up Saturday.
