Every Carlisle for the last 5 years I have looked for a model of the TD and have never seen one. Lots of sellers there w/ the TC’s and the like, but never TD’s. Hope to find one this year.

Dick,
Sure you need a inspection? In VA w/ a vintage tag it is not required – I did not know that till the last minute and was informed.Dale -

Tighten up the front bar and now you have to worry about the pretty front wire wheels – As Rosanna Danna Danna used to say ” it’s always something “.

Bill,
Sounds like Saturday morning would let everyone be included at the same time for the Autocross. Good for me. We could still do the Friday night speedster dinner and then downtown if not to late or do the Friday cruise and our own dinner and then downtown. Like Bill – I am easy – I will go w/ the crowd. -

Less then a hour from me – go by the all the time – wish it had been around when I purchased my TD – would have saved me a ton of work. 3000.00 seems a little high for a unfinished project car. I know he spent a lot more if he purchased new.

Wobby,Good to hear from you – looking forward to visiting and hitting the road together.Friday night dinner and then a run to the downtown party sounds like fun – only thing – just wanted to make sure we don’t mess up Bruce’s plans – I guess as long as everyone agrees and we give him advance notice we should be good. What does everyone…[Read more]

Dale Schumacher replied to the topic Tach adjustment question in the forum VW Based Kits 12 years, 5 months ago
I will take a look again – I do not remember seeing anything like that, but it has been a while – I do remember that there were no markings – just two very small holes. I guess a light/mirror and upside down. Maybe better just to get loose and pull out and try and adjust.

Dale Schumacher replied to the topic Tach adjustment question in the forum VW Based Kits 12 years, 5 months ago
Do you remember how to adjust? Small screwdriver maybe? I don’t remember any markings on the rear to indicate anything.

Somebody buy this – I need a black top – it looks like white would go better w/ this car and he has a extra. Maybe I should email and ask if he would just sell me the extra top.

Ed, I think 73 would be rack and pinion? Might be a problem for the build.

Bill, sounds good – maybe a run downtown w/ a few of us after Friday night dinner.Ed – 2nd gear it is – the thing is – Roy is retired and most likely spending his days practicing on a local track. I know he is fast because I have seen a picture of him in his car w/ two wheels up in the air!

Eric,Thanks for posting – you have found the bunch of guys who care the most about these replica’s. I live in the DC area as well and was able to get my car on the road a few years back. VW doners are not as easy to find now days, but still out there. As an example a local vintage VW guy receives old cars and breaks the down for the usable parts…[Read more]

By the Way – I will be out today w/ my ride when I get home – 90 degrees today? Crazy. I need to find that empty parking lot and practice – so far everything is being used – park&ride and the schools are still open for a while.

Ed,
A local VW engine builder ( helped me build both my engines ) buys and rebuilds all types of vw carbs. He pulls them all apart cleans and replaces anything that needs fixing and look like new when he is done. If you have a interest I could check w/ him and see if he has a replacement in case yours is a carb issue. I think his price is below… -
Dale Schumacher replied to the topic Looking for luggage rack and rear sway bar. in the forum VW Parts Wanted 12 years, 6 months ago
Paul,Thanks for that link on the different type of racks – I think I may try the wood type – I have left over Mahogany from a project that will work if sealed well – no cost to me other then labor. I can then look at Carlisle at the swap and see if any deals are to be had on the traditional type.
