    @carolinabob

I think I am in the right place for this query.

I am new here and posted some pics of my Daytona MiGi. The postings came out in a “wide ” format which I find inconvenient to use.

What did I do wrong, and how can I get to the narrow format?

I’d like to start a “My Project” thread, but I’m hesitant to do so as I am afraid it will come out in the wide format.

I’m now wondering how this thread will be displayed. Oh well, after I hit “post” , I guess I will find out.

    Thanks

It came out in the narrow format ! Can I edit the prior posts to this format?

    Bob,

I know just enough to be dangerous on this site. Maybe Paul Mossberg or another member can tell you how to shrink your picture posts. I ran into the same thing and FrankieD shrunk them for me a few years ago. I’ve not posted many pics since.

I would at least try to edit your previous posts.

Hey Everyone, I ‘m glad someone asked this question. I’ve noticed that once a question or comment starts out wide it stays wide regardless of who responds to it ,same for one that begins narrow, I think. It sure does make it easier to read in the narrow format. I get dizzy dragging the words back and forth. I too am not computer smart enough to know what causes this to happen much less how to fix it .

Great observation Larry…I guess we’re all a bunch of nearsighted, computer illiterate old men with cool kit cars

I guess FrankieD is the guy that may be able to explain this to us? We are probably missing a button (icon) that allows us to shrink pictures before we post them. They seem to be causing the wide format posts. I don’t recall any wide posts w/o pictures in them.

In the meantime, reading “wide” posts will require Dramamine!

    Not sure folks.

Could you resize them before you post them?

I would suspect that resizing the pics we post BEFORE they are posted solves the “wide” problem.

If anyone does discover the size, please let us know. Does anyone know how to delete some, but not all of our own photos in the photo gallery? I have some duplicates and other photos that I need to purge, but don’t know how. There is a delete photos button, but I am afraid to press that button until I know what it does. For the registry graphic I use a link to Photobucket since that changes from time to time, and on my monitor that appears to be a good size without any size changing.

James,  I noticed that even when a photo is BIG in a post it comes out at a workable size in the photo gallery. I think that some threads that start out at the correct size expand to the wide size as soon as someone puts in a photo.I think Paul told in a post a while back how to shrink pictures for this site with out shrinking them in our personal files but I was too computer dumb to do it [probably still am] , this technology is great except I am so far behind that I may never catch up. He may have been talking mb not inches ,perhaps he will give us the info again.

    Larry,

Technology is a moving target, about the time I think I have it in view, then it’s moved on, and it out runs me wee brain.

I did a test and a width of 243 pixels seemed to work fine.

I had mentioned this to a friend who passed along his solution that works on most sites and many different situations.

Join Flickr, (it’s part of Yahoo),  its free, it’s very easy to use and lets me download or upload different sizes of my photos without having to change any thing.  Once you upload your picture (any size) to the sight you can open Flickr and when you click on your photo it will give you 4 different sizes to choose from.  You can then simply download the re-sized picture to your desktop, or use they link they give to that particular size photo to place into your message. The small or medium size seem to work best for me on most web sites and emails. It’s easier than it sounds and now I use it for all kinds of photo projects. I don’t know if Photobucket is the same, but I know I won’t go back to the old way of re-sizing my photos with photoshop.

    DELETING PHOTOS FROM YOUR GALLERY

Open your gallery, and click the “Delete Photos” link.

A pop-up window will open with a text list of all the photos in your gallery. Under each entry will be a link to “Delete?”

    Click that link.

    You handle each photo invividually.

Paul,  I went to the photo gallery, pulled up my photos, waited till they appeared and then clicked on ”delete photos” ,a window opened in the top left corner of the screen and in a small rectangle in the window it said that I did not have any photos. What did I miss or do wrong? I was looking at about a dozen photos in the gallery that it said I did not have. Thanks for your help.
