Who knew the originals had a “roller-type accelerator?”
BTW, the site I ripped this from seems to belong to an MG restorer of extraordinary skill and patience. Several illustrated tips there might be applicable to us–such as “simple removable luggage rack” http://www.gblandco.com/gb/rack/rack.html
or for the truly ambitious, “Vintage Nardi Steering Wheel Restoration”

I use a folding tire step for my removable luggage rack (see my pics). The step folds flat to store behind the seat. I have since found the tire step in chrome. The step can support over two hundred pounds, about enough for my wife’s suitcase.
Great articles, thanks again

December 17, 2009 at 1:32 pm #240249Ed, I edited your post to turn the url’s into live links. Hope you don’t mind. Great stuff!
And James…good thing you have the luggage rack for your MG. Your wife’s bag would really cost you if you decided to fly!

December 17, 2009 at 10:23 pm #240250Thanks, James. I knew I’d seen a better luggage rack already; it was yours. And thanks, Paul, for coding the post. I should really up my game on that stuff, I know.
As you-all could probably guess, I’m not the type to leave well enough alone. These little tidbits are the result of my trolling for ideas for my BCW, which my fiance has consented to my naming “Bridget.” As she’s mechanically sound (apparently), I’m really keen to get her looks just that much closer to that of the original model (the car, I’m talking about, not the future wife). Hence my question, earlier, on the possibility of relocating the P-brake stick to a spot between the seats.
A look at the Haynes manual suggests it’s possible, if not as simple as the “bend-back” method. Don’t think I’ll get to it this winter, but next year, maybe. If/when I do it I’ll post a how-to seminar w/ pics if there’s interest.
