Spent part of the morning and most of the afternoon replacing the generator and voltage regulator. It all started with a bad lug which lost its insulation on the D+ connection on the voltage regulator, which shorted out against the regulator case, damaging it. Replaced the regulator and everything was fine. But as I was driving on some rough roads the B+ connector on the regulator was hitting a (I don’t know what you call it) sort of a metal holddown tack welded to the fan shroud, which eventually tack welded itself to the B+ as it was hitting the connector shorting to ground which damage the generator.
Everything’s working fine now. About to clean the car to enter a Lions Club Car Show this morning.
