Okay…when swapping the generator for an alternator, you’ll have to do a few things.
    1.  Replace the generator stand with an alternator stand. The generator stand is cut a little longer and the larger diameter portion of the alternator won’t fit properly in the generator stand.
    2.  Replace the fuel pump to one that is angled away from the alternator. The standard fuel pump for a generator is to tall.
    3.  Change the fuel pump shaft to the shorter one for an alternator. If you don’t the longer shaft will damage the new pump.
    4.  They don’t make externally regulated alternators anymore. All alternators now are internally regulated so you’ll have to mofify the wiring a little.

Other than that, there’s nothing to it.

Thanks, I heard the carb needs to be lifted with a spacer? True?

I think it depends on which carb you have. I have only used stock carbs so I’m not sure. Sorry can’t help you there.

I think the problem of needing a spacer is with the single port engines.I have had both, the single port needed a spacer for the carb to clear the larger diameter of the alternator. With the dual port it cleared. also buy an alternator kit, comes with everthing needed, including wiring directions. If I recall I purchased mine from cip1.
