I have some fine scratches and dull areas on my car.Everything i try does not work.Rubbing compound,sratch remover etc.Everything i’ve tryed has only been put on by hand no machines.I’m a little nervous.I talked to a detail shop. He said he could put the paint in show room condition.I suspect fine scratches and chips will be on going problem.Any help will be greatily appreciated.
A fiberglass guy in Phoenix wanted over $7,000 to redo my body work to get it to show condition. That was a shocker. I paid half of that for the car, and it’s insured for less than that work would cost.

Greg, You’ll wear your arms out long before you get rid of scratches or other blemishes. If your gel coat is thick enough a random orbit polisher with different stages of cutting pads and media will take care of it, just really be sure it’s a random orbit or you’ll risk burning paint. If this is the only car you’ll need to work up, the cost for the equipment will be more than a good detail guy will charge.
How much did your detail guy want to charge and did he promise not to go though the gel coat?
