I have just ordered mine plus the muffler/exhaust clamp kit for $11.95.It comes with gaskets and hardware, but I also wanted new clamps amd doughnuts. I have ordered from Chirco before and they are easy to deal with. Both items are listed with free shipping and Im all about the freebies. Click on Chirco stores in the listing and he has many more exhausts and VW parts.

MGLondon – which exhaust do you have. Send us a picture. The 3487 certainly “looks” the closest to a TD (that was important to me) and it soulds a little more throaty with less wheezing than the stock VW. Only slightly louder than a stock VW muffler. The Dual Ghia exhaust was a bit too much muscle car look for me.
Ditto on that, Mark. The 3487 is not a performance exhaust; it seems to be comparable to the stock VW exhaust in terms of back pressure. Deepens the sound just a smidge. The real benefit is it tucks up clean and leaves the right size single exhaust tip exiting under the passenger side bumper in the exact spot it’s supposed to on an MGTD. That’s kind of a big deal to some of us.
It will absolutely work with your 1835 build but it probably won’t give you all the over-4500-RPM horsepower you seem to be wanting. For that you’ll need something more like the Tri-Mil or A-1 Sidewinder. Vintage Speed also has a neat design that tucks up nicely & one of the Speedster guys bought it and raved. So that might be a nice compromise. All those neat exhaust systems cost though. The Speedster dudes routinely drop $1100 or more just on headers and mufflers.
If it were me with the new 1835, I’d just install the 3487 & drive it. If you hate it & want to go with a stainless or ceramic coated “nest of snakes” exhaust later, you’ve only spent $80 on the 3487, and someone on this board or the SAMBA will probably give you $50 for it.
