Throwing this out there to see if anyone is interested.
As the title says 52 MG TD original,but I would say its in KIT form.As it is completely dissasembled.Sorry no pics at this time.Front and rear fenders need some work but are savable same with the running boards.Hood has been louverd.Has radiator and grill shell.doors are decent.Rear quarters will need some work.Has the headlight buckets and brakets.has complete fold down windshield with wipers and motor.also has front and rear bumpers spare tire rack,and gas tank.Has new 3 bow top with side curtains,and a new body wood kit from moss.Has original banjo steering wheel.Frame is good has been beefed up as this car had a V8 at one time,original cowl has been removed and a flat steel firewall put in its place.Car will need alot of work for a restoration,But is a good base for a rod or custom,I will include a fresh chevette 1.6 with a new gasket set as well as the 4 speed tranny.I have Good title for the car,however buyer will need to purchase a reproduction vin plate from moss,as this is missing.I have not taken a complete invintory of what is or isn’t here.I would like to sell as a whole and do not want to part out.$2500.firmthe grill and windshield should bring that much on the bay alone.send questions to- scottandlynne@sbcglobaSorry when I added the pic it messed up the email. scottandlynne@sbcglobal.netAugust 19, 2012 at 8:36 am #251467Where are you?/ Where is this mess located?
August 19, 2012 at 8:43 am #251468Well I am in Manitowoc Wisconsin.
The frame and its dissasembled susspention (working on rebuilding) and engine are in my garage.The rest of the car is in the Appleton area just have not had the time to go pick it up.August 19, 2012 at 10:55 am #251469Too far then. I think you’ve got a deal there for someone handy & with time. Might try posting it on the MG Experience forum.
Start on the T & pre-war board but don’t neglect the “dark side” V-8 conversion area. Different crowds on those.
Another good place to move that project might be the H.A.M.B. classifieds.
September 21, 2012 at 7:18 pm #251470Update;
Got the whole mess home.Been working on it as time allows.Pretty much a puzzle of sorts,as Someone else took the car apart.Making some progess with getting all the wood skeleton built for the body sheet metal.Plans are chevy 283 with an auto tranny,(wives idea,go figure).September 21, 2012 at 8:59 pm #251471Cool. Glad to hear you’re going to rebuild it!
And kudos to your wife! Great inspiration!

November 10, 2012 at 1:42 pm #251472Just thought I’d add… Theres an old gal here in SunLakes AZ who drives around in an original TD Plain dark green with steel rims not tearly as flashy as an replica I ever saw. It’s good Bebop weather out here now. Nothing else to report here except that you’all can get suitable windshield wiper blades from the Moss Motors catalog but cost nearly thirty bucks a pair.
Randy in Chandler Arizona, great B-bopp'in teritory. I must have the only one in the country made by Rich Industries in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on a 1986 Ford Cortina (english ford escort) It's a 1600cc straight four cylinder front engne, 4 speed, changed from right side driver to left side with several shafts and u-joints. BEBOP because I once had an MGB with license plate MG-BEPOP in Virginia.
November 11, 2012 at 12:40 pm #251473why a 283?? just a old engine ? why not a crate motor 350? if you want do a old engine a 327 would be the way i would go . quicker then a 283 and just as easy to find ………. Dan
November 17, 2012 at 6:16 am #251474Here’s the why a 283.
I have 2 virgin low mileage 283’s sitting here.The smaller bore,and short stroke take a lot less fuel to feed it.And gas here is holding at $4 a gallon.A stock powerpack 283 with a 2bbl carb has 195 ponies.Should be plenty to move a 1700 pound car.A 327 is just a short stroked 350.I have a 350 4 bolt main sitting here.If I real had enough cash to work with I would have that built to a 302.312 with an overbore.November 17, 2012 at 10:57 am #251475Having one on hand ,is the best reason i can think of.. Dan
November 17, 2012 at 2:32 pm #251476AnonymousInactiveiold buzz said he had 2 283’s even better reason to use the 283.
November 17, 2012 at 3:23 pm #251477I always liked the short stroker small blocks. It was said they liked to rev a bit more willingly than the 350s & 400-stroker motors. Valves a little shrouded in the 283 version but not so much in the 302. Used to be you could pick up power pack heads for a song (or less) from anyone with a garage (’cause they wanted “fuelie” 461x heads with bigger valves). Turned out the smaller heads made a lot more power on the smaller displacement engines–unless you were going full race and wanted all your grunt above 6000 rpm.
Now all that old school stuff is pretty rare.
BTW, a 283 with power packs and a nice tall intake, small 4 bbl, a mild hydraulic cam and headers will make a lot more than 195 horses.
November 17, 2012 at 5:39 pm #251478this my 2 cents , the car is sooo light I would go with a short duration cam ( eldebrock performer or a PAW equivalant) , small carb 450 or a 500. it will be very docile till you step oni it & give good mpg
