OK guys,
Times getting closer – I was thinking of seeing if we had enough people to caravan from the south this year. I know Roy comes up from the south, but was hoping to include anyone interested in joining. I usually leave my place ( about 40 miles south of DC on 95 ) around 12:00 on the Thursday before Carlisle so I hit the hotel before the dinner tour and have time to check in and relax a bit and watch others arrive. I still do not know if I will be flat towing or driving ( hopefully driving ), as that depends on who will end up in my right seat if anybody.Let me know your plans and we will see if it works out.March 14, 2013 at 10:39 am #255087Karen and I might be with you, Schu. looks like I’m going up on Thursday this year.
March 14, 2013 at 10:47 am #255088Dale, That, possibly, is a good fit for us. I will be flat towing and like to get through DC and Balt while people are still at work. We will be heading to Elverson which is about 40 miles east of Carlisle, very close to where Bill lives. Julie and I will spend Thurs night with her brother there in Elverson and head over to Carlisle Fri morning (maybe like last year – with Bill). Do you go up Rt 70? I usually go up 95, then around Baltimore to 83 and then 30 to Elv. It’s 450 miles for us. We’re usually pretty tired and partying on Thursday night is only something that I wish I could still do.
We’re anxious.March 14, 2013 at 4:17 pm #255089Roy, my son has expressed a desire to accompany us with his VW on the way out.

March 15, 2013 at 3:34 am #255091It’s the most bizarre thing you’ve ever seen.

I will have to take a look at that route – I usually go around the beltway and up 270 to 70 I think
when flat towing and up 15 when driving ( nice direct route w/o a lot of traffic but takes a bit longer).
As it gets closer lets try and work something out.April 23, 2013 at 2:03 pm #255093OK guys – any firm up on this caravan? One of the speedster guys in Falls Church – Syl – is planning to either flat tow or drive his ride up and I can hook up w/ him directly to Carlisle or meet the crew in Hagerstown about noon for lunch and I have a email in to Todd ( another NV speedster guy ) to find out his plans.
Roy – are you driving directly up to Bill’s in PA Thursday? How about you Ed? You driving to Hagerstown to meet the group? Just trying to decide on options here.April 23, 2013 at 2:16 pm #255094Dale, Yes, it looks like we will tow straight up. We stay with Julies brother who lives about 10 miles from Bill.
Probably best not to plan on us in the Caravan. Thanks.RoyApril 23, 2013 at 4:18 pm #255095Ah, not sure about this one, Dale.
Joppa to Carlisle is about a 2 hour run for me, 100 miles, more or less.
Joppa to Hagerstown is almost as long–93 miles and an hour and a half on the highways. Then it’s another hour to the show.
I’m not saying “no” yet, just pondering. Leaning towards meeting y’all there though.
April 23, 2013 at 4:22 pm #255096Ok, now I’m saying no. Hopefully you’ll get Todd and Syl and all drive. And what a sight you’ll be!
I’ll meet you on the site or maybe at the hotel. We’re going up Thursday afternoon.
April 23, 2013 at 4:53 pm #255097OK – It sounds like I will meet you all in Carlisle either Thursday PM ( Ed ) and Bill and Roy on Friday AM.
Hopefully the rest of you all coming will be there as well. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting any new folks. -
