Hi Folks,
Just a ” for what it’s worth ” item. I had a slight problem with the MG wanting to run hot on a 90°F+ day. It was usually ok if I kept it at 55 mph or less, but the oil temp would start to climb if you tried to run at 60.
The cooling tin was kind of ratty, and I had an oil leak somewhere, so I pulled all the tin with the idea of spray painting it. The 1st surprise was a dirty, nasty looking oil cooler that was gushing between the base of the cooler and the engine. That was replaced with a new one. The cooling metal was very dirty inside, AND there was considerable dirt, mud, what have you jammed between the cylinder fins! It was packed so tightly, I had to poke it out with an old hack saw blade. I had the tin sand blasted and powder coated black, and yes the fan was cruded up also. We haven’t had any 90°F days lately, so I haven’t been able to find out if this helped, but I can’t believe it won’t.
If you are having over heating problems, This could be it. Rollie
