Good Morning!
I have recently purchased a Design Classics MG on a VW platform. I believe it has a 1965 1300 engine. It came with a rag top, a hard top, and boxes of spare parts. Everything works and it drives well. Looking forward to a fun summer with this car. I will be back with lots of questions as we undertake various maintenance jobs.
I am the previous owner (in another lifetime) of a 1958 MGA. I am over the shock of the engine in the trunk, so everything else should be smooth motoring.May 27, 2016 at 12:22 pm #268270Welcome aboard!

May 27, 2016 at 3:42 pm #268271Good to have you here!Hope to see that hard top since I know those have been mentioned before by others yet seldom exist apparently. If you change the gen/alt belt be sure to tighten the pulley nut to a torque of 43 ft-lbs. Tore my pulley off (picture somewhere I think) just after I got my VW MG from trying to tighten back the way I found it– too loose.LRH2016-05-27 15:43:41

May 27, 2016 at 8:56 pm #268274Welcome to you, Beth. These are fun cars, as you’ll discover. And they’re also pretty old. We’re here to help.
May 28, 2016 at 11:09 am #268275Hi Beth,
Here is a thread with more info about Design Classics replicas:The quick summary:Design Classics built replicas of the MG-TD and the 1957 Thunderbird in their Minnetonka, Minnesota factory in the early 1980s. Their MG replica was called the eMGe and fit on a VW chassis. The Teebird also bolted to a VW pan and left plenty of luggage room up front where the engine should have been.Paul Mossberg

May 28, 2016 at 1:14 pm #268277Welcome aboard Beth. I believe you will thoroughly enjoy being in our group. And to the best of my recollection your TDr is the only red with white fenders I’ve ever seen.
