As stated in an earlier post, I received that dash hinges from MG Magic. However, I checked them out with the old hinges and noticed a discrepancy. Your advice please. The hinges, when facing aft have the head of the hinge pin facing DOWN. When comparing the new hinges with the left door hinges they match (as in hinge pin head facing up.) So…

Should I give MG Magic a call on Monday and try to exchange the two hinges for two correct ones and hope they don’t charge me for the new ones or if they do charge to replace them, install the new hinges with the hinge pin heads facing down. Hinges are $24.85 each. Thanks for your input.

There is no indication on the MGmagic web site that they offer left or right hinges Can you drive out the pins so has to reinsert so that you can create a left or right side hinge.
If not you can try calling to find out if they offer left and right hinges

I though of driving out the pins and re-inserting them the correct way but decided against it. The hinges were loose at the pins and the new ones are nice and tight.

As the hinges are aluminum and the pins are likely steel what you may try after driving out the pins is putting the pins in a set of vice grips to put some longtitudal crimps in the shaft. When you reinsert the pins the grooves/crimps should bite into the aluminum hinge. Another option would be to put a spot weld on the pin shaft. You can then file the weld down to still leave it proud but not so much that it cracks the hinge when you press it in. If you do decide to remove the pins you may want to use a vice as opposed to a hammer and drift. You will have greater control with the vice than hammering away at it. You do need three hands using the vice to hold the socket, drift or bolt and hinge in alignment when tightening the jaws. Use vice to reinsert the pins
