Alrighty then…
With the increased cold, my time in the barn grows shorter until the thawing of spring time, save for the few days warm enough to use my tiny heater to keep my toes and fingertips from frostbite! As I dig further into this project, I am finding a few more things that have gone missing over the many years of being moved from p… -

Dan, I think that you may have forgotten that I have a single port 1600 engine. It is in fantastic shape, but the single port design limits the carb choices. I have relied heavily on my readings in the Samba, and all over the net as well as Aircooled’s treatise ( http://www.aircooled.net/vw-carburetor-options-selection-101/ ). If I could fi…[Read more]

Posting this just for the record and maybe it’ll help other folks building their TDs. The only metric gauge in my set is the speedo. It has kph on the outer scale and mph on the inner scale. (30 mph is 50 kph and 60 mph is 100 kph.) Used to drive around England and Japan with the dual (KPH/MPH) speedo for years so I’m pretty much used to it. My…[Read more]

Paul I will try to do that if I can get the picture posting figured out.
Ed I may do that. In fact I have a guy that wants the trailer. I just thought I would try it this way first. That way if someone from 3 or 4 states away wanted it they would have a way to get it home.Thank You both for all of the help you have been the past couple of years. -

If it’s no good you could always put it back, Roy.Carb-wise, would one of those progressive Holley-Weber 2 bbl jobbies fit? And does anyone know if they offer up any appreciable performance boost? I believe Syl Mathis’s beautiful white speedster has that carb setup and I don’t hear him complaining.

If it’s not gone by May, drag the whole rig to Carlisle! I’d sell the TD and the trailer separately, since VWs are so easy to flat tow. That trailer sounds like a beaut–and more suited to a Cobra replica or something similar.

I just got a PM from Schu and it looks like his dual carb rig is about as space efficient (width wise) as could possibly be. Schu’s air cleaners are smaller and more upright than Paul’s. Unfortunately it appears that his rig is about 33″ to the outside of the carbs just like Paul’s. Bummer! From reading, I understand that it would (would hav…[Read more]

I cannot tell by the sending units. But the fact that the set includes a water temp gauge, I think it’s safe to assume this is for a front engine kit.

Can anyone tell if by the senders which fiberfab model they will fit? I need a set for my VW based kit… That is the ONE thing my kit is missing! Might be a player on this.
Let me know if someone here is bidding so I don’t step on someones toes!Regards, Doug -

I think that these are VDO gauges. Metric speedo and gas gauge. But not metric temp or pressure. What is the US equivalent to 1/2 metric tank of fuel?

newkitman replied to the topic Gauges in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 3 months ago
That’s the same set of gauges I have. I don’t mind the metric part on the speedo but if I could find the same style volt meter I’d get one of those. I’ve never been too keen on amp gauges. Also I’m missing the black wire to the light on the speedo seen in the picture of the back of the gauges. Look like it takes a really small bayonette connector…[Read more]

Not the usual 2.3 Ford motor. Maybe an earlier 2.0 or 1.6?
