It is indeed a nice car and the front engined Classic Roadsters are pretty rare too. In the thread on wire wheels,it appears that they would cost about $2000. That gets the price down to a ”somewhat reasonable” figure if the car is as nice as the pictures show it to be. Besides ,the asking price is usually more than what it would take to…[Read more]

ray10. Realizing that you just paid a bunch of money for these new wheels, could you give us your opinions of them? Can you tell who made them and where they were made? They look like 100+/- spokes? Roy

Nice looking car.
Classic Roadsters Duchess. And like a lot of them, sits a bit high in the rear (too much room between rear fenders and tires). But overall looks like a nice car. -

I am thinking that to put on 5 lug chevy/ford pattern drums and then bolt-on wires would be more elegant and certainly make me feel safer than using adapters on our 4×130 hubs. If you look at the backside of a 4x130VW hub they can not be easily weld filled and redrilled to Chevy/Ford 5 bolt pattern.
I thought that I once saw undrill…[Read more]

I need to make a correction on the hook up of the vent line . the vent line hooks up to the gas tank and is ran along the drivers side frame rail with the gas line and brake line , it goes up to the fuel pump where it attaches to a gas line that goes up to the charcoal canister.

Well, crap. I can’t find my notes. But this was all recent and my memory is pretty good. So here’s what I found re wire knockoffs to be adapted to the 4-bolt VW:1. The most likely candidate for a legit kit that’ll maybe fit is the Triumph TR3/4 hubs with 4.5-inch Dunlop wires.I found them available at Rimmer Brothers for–here’s the link–about…[Read more]

70 spokes is high.TD aftermarket wheels would have been 48 or 60 spoke.http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=29904http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=70300Truespoke is another option. Scott, check my post from 7:15 pm yesterday for a link to a diagram of how your brake distribution/warning switch goes. It’s from the Auto Zone web site, but looks probably right.By the way, you kick ass, build-wise. I am in awe.
