Yeah. I swapped out batteries and tested the batteries with another volt meter. Got 13.2 or so on both with the engine running. I seem to have low voltage to the instruments, as read on this meter. I think it’s the meter. But I have not yet pulled it to test it directly at the battery.

Ed, My voltmeter also read about 2vdc low when I put it in about 3 months ago. Weak battery. One dead cell.

Got the switch for the fog light working, aimed the light and wrapped the wires under the hood. Here are the headlight relays (left two) and the new fog light relay tucked in under the steering shaft.
Now I’m under the dash again, trying to clean everything up and maybe find out why my volt meter has consistently read about 2 volts low since I…[Read more]

MGLondon….When you meet Wobby and his TD, his comment will make much more sense.Until then trust me, he wasn’t really making a serious observation on painting his engine compartment or on paint prep in general.

I believe anything you paint has to be cleaned first, otherwise, the paint won’t stick.

Mark, don’t take off the valve cover yet. Your spark timing may indeed be a little off after installing a new Pertronix. Changing from points to the Pertronix caused me to have to turn the distributor about 20 degrees in order to get her to fire up the first time. Switching back to points gave me the same problem in reverse.Do you know how to find…[Read more]

Okay…check this. Take the valve cover off the right side of the engine and with the timing marks at TDC, check to see if both valves on No. 1 cylinder are closed. If they are you ‘ll be able to rock the rocker arm end and feel the play. If they’re not both closed you’re more than likely 180° out. If it is out of time and was running before, th…[Read more]
