    @chevtd

    I have a Classic Roadsters MGTD replica with 1.6L Chevette power. I am having a problem with the valve lifters. I also need a engine specific valve spring tool for this motor. The tool is GM valve spring tool

    #J-25477.  It looks more like a pair of plyers than a coventional valve spring tool.  Any one with info on such a tool or any knowledge of the Chevette valve and lifter system please contact me.

    Pretty sure that Advance Auto (and maybe all of the auto stores) will allow you to check out the valve spring compressor for free.  Sorry I can’t help with Chevettes.   Roy

    @ray10

    Intake valve should have 0.010 in.(0.25mm) clearance;exhaust valves should have 0.014 in (0.35 mm ) clearance.

    You might want to pick up a chevy chevette/pontiac t-1000 shop manual
