Let’s say A LOT of them do! But a properly built and maintained VW engine will not.
Two primary things to look at:Oil pan screen cover. I bet ninety percent of owners over tighten the nuts holding the screen cover on. And it is imperative to replace the copper washers and paper gaskets (one above, one below the screen) each time you remove a… -

Two most obvious:
No fender mounted tail lights on the TC.No “splash panel” for lack of a better term on the TC (body work parallel to the ground, under the spare and between tank and bumper).PMOSSBERG2012-03-16 13:36:36

Here’s a web site about the original MGT series. Gives color combos etc. Paul posted this way back. It answeres several of those nagging questions.

Wow. Those are all very nicely done cars. Love the way the tires fill the wheel wells in the ’66. That one would be my pick. Thanks for sharing them. Can’t wait to see the TD.

Paul – I wish we could have kept both of them, but they were both sold – Can only afford one toy at a time. Plus not having enough garage space. Over on the “other rides” section, I just posted pictures of both of these and the current mustang that has assigned space in the garage next to my TD.

On a related subject, chrome grill slats are usually “incorrect,” the exception being late model Mark IIs. The right color was usually–not always–the interior color. But a lot of MG restorers chromed them anyway.

Update (from the Q&A under the Lucas Smoke Replacement ad):”Q: 1) When the Brits took over the aircooled VW plant after WW2 did they use
Lucas smoke? I own an old triumph and the smoke emitted from my ’62 bug smells
quite familiar! 2 if so, I assume this thing will work with old bugs too?

HAR!! “Unlike the cheap, far-eastern replacement DIYsmoke offered by the ‘usual
suppliers’, this kit includes a filter to ensure that all the smoke is of
consistent size, It has been our experience in our shop that the reproduction Taiwanese
smoke is often ‘lumpy’, which will cause excessive
