Have you cleaned the terminals and posts and put dielectric grease on them before you tightened them up again? Surface corrosion can block electrical flow in a short time. -

Tom is right, sadly. Here in Southeast Texas, the closest we’re seeing to fall color is all the dead and dying trees because of this miserable drought (although we did get a couple of good rain days over the weekend).

Both Allen and Paul are correct. The only axle with splines is the rear.
The front axle consists of an upper and lower tube. Inside the tube is a series of flat torsion leaves that go from one end of the beam to the other and go into the trailing arms. With Link/King Pin Beams the torsion leaves actually go completely through the trailing arms…[Read more] -

Went to Cruisin The Coast this past weekend and it was everything folks say it is. The weather was absolutely perfect. Winston was a big hit with both the young and old. Lots of thumbs up, smiles, waves, compliments and photo’s taken of him. Even had a couple folks from England stop and admire the car. Hooked up with Sarge in Ocean Springs and we…[Read more]

Nice Pic. We don’t get much in the way of fall color down along the gulf coast.

Actually the negative post and connection was tight and didn’t move when I tried to see if it was loose again. So I was a bit surprised to see that it started up after doing that.

I’ve never heard that one.The trailing arms have squared cut outs to fit the ends of the spring leaves that extend out of the torsion tubes. And it’s not what you do with an adjustable beam either. with the adjustable beam. The traling arms don’t move. One of these:
…is welded into the center of each torsion tube and is used to rotate the entire…[Read more]

They look like CMC/FiberFab windows .As Ed said ,they may not fit even these cars . The shape and size may be close but the zippers were probably sewn in place to match the top they came with. The zipper may be a different size or brand that may not match the top as well. The price is reasonable if you can make the neccessary modifications to m…[Read more]

here’s the link.Buyer beware–looks to me like TD replica tops vary quite a bit, so almost anything you buy that was not made to fit what you have will have to be made to fit. Might be easy. Might be hard.

I’ve heard a lot of things about VWs in my 30+ years but have never heard about this one. I know the splines are in the rear on the sprong plates and there are inner and outer splines but have never heard of it on the front beam. Sounds sort of like what you’d do with an adjustable beam rather than a stock front beam. The traiiling arms fit onto…[Read more]

Okay..You obviously know this TD better than I. But I got some of it right. It was a pretty one. Is there another reason to build one of these other than reliability? As for my project; I’m still trying to get the computer to work.
