Allen, The back bar should reach almost the length of the bumper ,from outer bolt hole to outer bolt hole.

newkitman replied to the topic Bumper Question in the forum VW Based Kits 13 years, 11 months ago
Thanks Larry. I’ll have to see if there are any more metal pieces in the kit. I unwrapped the bumpers this evening to check the condition and they are ok on the outer side and some minor corrosion on the inner side. I had hoped there was another piece of metal with each bumper but no joy. Any idea how long they are? I’m guessing somewhere in the…[Read more]

Larry Murphy replied to the topic Bumper Question in the forum VW Based Kits 13 years, 11 months ago
Allen, The MG bumpers are not very strudy. The back bar is a flat piece about 3/8” thick and 1 and 1/2 ” wide that fits out of sight behind the bumper to make the assembly much stronger.. It is needed on both the VW based cars as well as the front engined cars. You don’t absolutely have to use one ,but the bumper is mostly for looks wi…[Read more]

I agree with Ed.If you could pick it up for around $5500 I dont think it would be a bad deal. I like the British racing green and the interior looks great. I think its a CMC myself. I have been confused on the difference between a CMC and Fiberfab. The Fiberfabs used the vw turn signals and tail lights and called their TD replicas MIGI? I have…[Read more]

My insurance underwriter wouldn’t insure my London Roadster for more than $5,000.00 because he said that’s what the current market for these replicas was going for. I’m going to watch this and track the selling price, if it sells, and try to use that to increase my coverage limits.

It’s Fiber Fab or a CMC. I can’t quite determine if there is a seam/joint in the front splash pan..
The windshield posts have the optional covers at the bottom to give a MG like look to them.
Looks like reasonable price to me,but then I’m not trying to buy it. -

Do you have a street address for them? Their web site doesn’t list one.

What brand is it, it looks like my fiberfab until I get to the windshield side supports.
Looks like a well cared for car from the pictures and it maybe a little high in the front which could be a reason for the ride at 65 mph.RobBaker40771.5644791667 -

Well cared-for front engine car, 4 speed… $6500 doesn’t look crazy to me. Little more than my budget, but I’m cheap. Someone ought to grab that car. Start with an offer of $4800 and see if he’ll come down to $5500. Just my 2 cents.

Unfortunately, Rabbit Wheels won’t work.

VW Type 1 Five Bolt – they don’t call them “wide-fives” for nothing:

BDriver, I think the camera angle and position don’t allow a true view. It looks like the camera was too close for some of the shots and there is a wide angle deviation that makes the front end look wider.

VW Rabbit stock wheels are 15 inch and have round holes. Just don’t know the setback on those. Also will have to pay attention to the spacing of the lugs or lug holes. May or may not fit the beetle 5-bolt wheel. BUT…this could be an option.

Shipping may make the Brazil hubcaps seem pricey until you look at the cost of wire wheels, or even wire hubcaps. Add an MG logo in the hubcap center and the VW wheels that came with the donor car become faux MG steel wheels. Retro Cool. Yup. The cooling holes really are oval. That they appear round from the right angle on the originals is an opti…[Read more]
