edward ericson replied to the topic 1834 and duel carbs? in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years ago
I don’t know, but the Speedster guys mostly consider the 1835 with dual Kads the minimum. Cammed right and with proper tins they say its dead reliable and maybe 80 hp. That’s about 20-25 more than a good-running stock 1600 will give you, and while that may not sound like a lot of raw ponies, keep in mind it’s a 30 percent boost over what’s in…[Read more]

I like B’s idea. Bridget’s cable ended up wrong after I replaced the gas pedal. My problem was opposite–idle was about 3k. Fixed it in 1 minute by loosening the cable at the carb, setting it just not quite tight with the new roller at rest. Sparks are in order, so on to the fuel.

Dummy me. Tune UP. I got easily thrown by tune IT. Spark plugs, points, condenser, set the timing, all after a valve adjustment.

Is it possible the 009 dist. is not advancing causing it to flatten out at 55?

I’m not sure that you can use a rack designed for the MG on your London Roadster. They mount to the rear of the body using the same mounts as the spare tire rack and the lower mounts attach to the bumper brackets If you enlarge the Moss picture, you can get an idea of how the rack fits to the MG.

Simple idea.
Has your throttle cable slipped out of the friction lock on the carb linkage? Put a brick on the gas pedal (engine off) and look at the carb. Can you advance the linkage further? If so, adjust the linkage at the carb.
Has the throttle cable stretched? Is it coming apart inside the tube? That could lengthen the cable and give yo…[Read more] -

Have you considered a trailer hitch and a motorcycle cargo trailer? No weight on the engine cover. You can leave it behind when you don’t need it. -
MGLondonRoadste replied to the topic Luggage racks in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 14 years ago
How does this Moss Motors rack attach to my car? Do I need to drill the fiberglass? What position is the rack in for weight bearing use? How much stress is put on the fiberglass? If I take a trip with my London Roadster, I have some space up front for one, but not for two 22 – inch carry one size bags. http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProdu…[Read more]

Sure it’s the hood and not the grill being mounted crooked? If the hood is really wrong you can probably build out the end a little with some flat stock. Flange it, ‘glass or epoxy (and maybe rivet) it to the lip underneath and then fill the top with bondo.

Newbie Question: What is “tuning”?
-
edward ericson replied to the topic vw engine in the forum TD Replicas 14 years ago
Tune it. Sparks first. points (or pertronix), timing, etc. THEN look at the carb, fuel filters, flow, throttle linkage. You’ll get it.
