Wow Bill … faster than a Subaru WRX…….and a Mini Cooper…… cool!!
Is it the new engine or the increased skill of the driver?
How do your current times compare to your times with the old engine?
Most importantly, how do your current times compare to the Sharpie’s times.?
By the way, I got your little round “thingie” via Roy but have n…[Read more]

Well, there’s been no activity on this site for well over a week so I guess I’ll post something. We went and ran an autocross. It ran well, but we had a noise. the noise got real loud when the suspension was at it’s collapsed travel. Turns out the bracket I made to hold my parking brake cables was too low and the equalizer was able to hit the rear…[Read more]

Scam is always a possibility but if so I don’t think that they would ever let me see the actual car.

Euros, Francs…anything but Bitcoin.
My plan is to debut the Spyder but that was my plan last year too so let’s not be too hasty with the predictions.

So Ed, which country are you going to favor this coming Carlisle?
Should we be thinking Pound Sterling or Deutsche Mark?

I’ll look in the garage I think I still have the old one. where are you located , I could send you my old one to see if it will work on your car . then you can be sure to get a good fit . or get someone local to do the job

One thing to consider is the snap placement on your vehicle. A custom made top may or may not be a good fit, even if it’s the same kit manufacturer. It may depend on the type of frame you both have for example – two bows or three and where they’re mounted. Even the MG Magic kit requires you to install the snaps on the top, because of where the ind…[Read more]

Hi Crash55,
Would they still have your top pattern at Tumacs for the cover , I wonder? I may well try them.
Thanks for all the input here, most appreciated!

I didn’t like the way my VW Column looked all together, so I took it out and put all the electrical on the dash. I replaced the column with a steering rod and had a welder custom weld a release bolt just above the Crash Basket. Now it’s just a chrome rod that is mounted through a steering mount I bought from Socal Speed Shop! It works like a charm…[Read more]

Back when mine was a daily driver, I had quarter windows put into my original top. This made it a lot easier to see to back up, change lanes, etc. If you’re going custom, it’s something to consider.

I agree with Crash55 about going to a marine cover maker. My car is in Port Clinton, Ohio (Lake Erie) and the number of businesses is very huge. I’m having a top done next week and they have good ideas on making it more convenient than the original. The boat people are constantly making tops for an extreme variety of marine craft and have a sel…[Read more]

I had a similar problem with my VW adapter. I took it to a machine shop and they shortened it by two inches. Cost was $20. I also changed to the VW van turn signal assembly because the stalk sticks out straight and is not angled like other models. I felt the switch was going be too close to the wheel and I would hit it while turning.
its all good! Gregg

Don,
Thanks for the post I was just having the same issue and your thread saved me a ton of headache. I just ordered my part and can’t wait to move that steering wheel closer to the dash.
Thanks again,
