That’s the first time I’ve seen that. The site has always wanted picture files, jpg’s or whatever. You are using the little “tree with the arrow” icon, right? That link will tell you “Images must be of the type, jpg, jpeg, gif, png, and have a maximum file size of 500KB”

Mark..if I am understanding you correctly, you would hook the starter solenoid wire to the regulator wire, and hook them both to the ignition switch? My power to the ignition switch is currently coming from the amp meter. Thanks for your help. Don

Good looking car!! It’s got a lot of original MG features, very authentic.
It’s very difficult to get gelcoat to shine like quality paint but it is a very longlasting and tough finish. Try the products designed for fiberglass boats which are available at any marine dealer.
I like the vertical E-brake lever. -

Would a ’53 3 Bow top from an original MG like from Moss fit? Is it longer than a ’52?

Yes it is a chrome windshield complete with pitting from not being taken care of like it should be. It does fold and the hinge for the hood is on the drivers side.
I am looking to fix the gelcoat. Any suggestions? -

Great looking car. Looks like a real chrome windshield frame that folds down, and either a stright-up ’53 top mechanism or a very nice reproduction. Looks like your hood opens similar to my BCW, with hinges on the drivers side and a latch on the passenger side, all hidden. Very slick.Drive on up to Carlisle, I say!

Definately a 53 3 bow top. I was surprised to see the rear fenders molded as part of the body. According to Brad at MG Magic, there were several small manufacturers that made from one prototype to a dozen or so production models before fading away. Really neat car.

I’m thinking, re jack stands for Greg, maybe some 1 x 1 foot squares of 3/4-inch plywood to go under the stands. I don’t think we can work on the pavement.

Mark Hendrickson replied to the topic converting from amp meter to volt meter in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 4 months ago
If I was doing this, I’d just connect (join) the wires that were connected to the back of the amp meter. That would, in effect, complete that circuit. Plus, you’d not be stringing new wire all over the place.
Then hook your voltmeter to an “key on” voltage source. Nothing that was hooked to the amp meter would connect to the voltmeter.

I believe I have the dwell meter your looking for. An old car buff had one at a recent yard sale and I picked it up. Have no idea how to use said instrament but I keep hearing people talk of them so I figured I should have it. I’ll have someone from the shop explain it to me. That’ll certainly get them all laughing. Our race shop this time of year…[Read more]
