My British Coach Works MGTD uses an original MGTD top and side curtains. The top fits on pins with thumb screws on the OEM MGTD windshield frame.

MG Magic is still in business in FLA. I would venture to say that all they will have is vinyl…if they even have one. If they do…it’ll be old for sure.
Stayfast is the type of cloth material used on the high end luxury vehicle tops..like Mercedes.
If you send me an email (pinkmg@comcast.net) I’ll forward a few pics of the top and side curtains…[Read more] -

Hi! Yes it is a kit.
Hear anything abt MG Magic? Not sure if they are still in business or if they have car tops.
Yes! I will hang on to the side curtains now!
Stayfast…does that get moldy at all? I live in Raleigh..the MOLD state! 🙂 How is it with rain?
I did not care for the vinyl. It would ‘shrink’ quite easy and was difficicult to stre…[Read more] -

I almost forgot…if you car is fiberglass kit, go to a local Marine Supply (West Marine) and get gelcoat “compound”. There are several levels of this and they are made by 3M. They do a great job on baots, and our fiberglass replicas ar finished the same way if they are gelcoat.
3M also makes a treatment and cleaner for the clear plastic in the…[Read more] -

Is your MGTD a kit or the real thing?
Moss Motors is a good source for most of these parts and rechroming is definitely an option.
As far as your top and side curtains go, you can have “cloth” style units made by any good, local Auto Top/Upholester. DO NOT THROW AWAY THE OLD TOP AND SIDE CURTAINS…the fabricator will use them as patterns to build…[Read more] -

Hello again Alan
Actaully, they are all “basic MG-TD” reproductions.
“Duchess” was the model name for he TD kit produced by Class Roadsters in fargo ND.
If you post a couple pictures, I bet someone on the list can help identify the manufcturer of your kit. Or, look through the gallery and the TD History, Replicas page from the links on the left. -

Thanks so much Guys for all the great information. I did find bumpers for $129.00 ea. which isn’t bad. I will start restoration this summer which can’t be really called restoration because only a few things are needed, but it will be my project this summer. You have been a great help and I will be glad to return the favor if I can in the future.… -

Too bad she lost interest. As Paul M. posted it depends on what manufacturer produced your kit. I have a “northern” kit made by the now defunct British Coach Works (Pennsylvania). They made VW and Chevette based TD Replicas. All of the body hardware on the BCW cars were OEM or Repro MGTD stuff. Even my tailight lenses are glass. In my opinion the…[Read more]

Hey Batman!
I love it! Looks like another victim of ‘glass fumes is in our midst. Looks like a lot of work lies ahead for you. As everyone here knows I’m a plastics fanatic, so keep us (me) posted. Do a search of past posts for “merlin” to follow my (years long) “learning experience” with that awful itchy stuff. see too many photo’s (i…[Read more] -

Chrislana,
Very interesting project you have there. We are a MG-TD Replica site but as long as you’re not SPAMing the board, I don’t think any of our members would mind you posting here. There’s a lot of kit car experience here and maybe some can answer your a question or two for you and I’m sure Michael and you could start your own thread on…[Read more] -

Hi Dale.
No.
The Speedster club is an on-line club, focused solely on Porshce Speedseter reproductions.
New Jersey Replicar Club (http://www.njreplicar.org) is open to all kit cars and home builts. -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic NEED MGTD INFO in the forum General Discussion 19 years, 4 months ago
Gator,
It will depend on who manufactured your kit. Some of the kits used reproduction MT-TD parts for the grill and bumpers. They are easy to get, although they may be pricey.
You wrote a “northern company”. If you have a Classic Roadsters Duchess (company is in Fargo North Dakota), your car uses repro original TD parts.
Rechroming is always an…[Read more] -

Paul,
I plan on being there if I can finish my ride.
Is the NJ club the same as the speedster club? I am a member of that site as well- I hope to build one of those next.
