Thanks for the good info. Toller, I like the idea of that checklist. Perhaps you can dig it out and post it here on the forum. It definitely sounds like something we can all use.
As for bleeding the brakes, this is the second time in a year I’ve had to do this. Air appears to be seating into the closed system. With all the bleeders and metal…[Read more]

You may also want to check the operation of the brake cylinder. If the bleeder valves are seized it may imply that the brakes have not been serviced in some time. Although I have only had Sabine for two years she gets a full maintenance check when she comes out of hibernation in the spring. Don’t remember if check list I use was posted on this…[Read more]

The road wheels just have simple plastic covers. The spare is a wire wheel. The builder originally had a full set of wire wheels but he gave four of them to his brother his own TDr. Never got the whole story behind that. Glad your on the mend, definitely the right direction. -

Greg, I didn’t look generators up but a few years ago, I found that a new (rebuilt) starter (NAPA) was cheaper than having mine rebuilt.

Good eye Ed. Yep it was me “another day older and deeper in debt” driving a silver Mercury Mariner.

I want to thank all of you who helped with my generator problem . As I see it you remove the carb a few bolts .Find a 36mm socket and it comes out . send it out for rebuild put it back tighter and away you go.
thanks again

Sure Ed – Sounds like a plan unless I can talk my wife into coming this year.
We have been down in the off season a couple of times since last year and she loves it so maybe this is the year.
I will get with you before we lock down a room.

Probably wouldn’t hurt but also shouldn’t need. Once you get them loose they should be fine as long as you crack them open again every other year or so—which you ought to do anyway when you change the brake fluid. If you strip them get new. They’re cheap and save a fair bit of agita messing around later with a vice grips. Ask me how I know.

DANG! Sorry, Roy. I did hear a horn and wave—silver SUV of some sort. Was that you? I wish I’d have recognized you because I would definitely have stopped.
That was me for sure on the way back home from Cars & Coffee at Hunt Valley. Saw our new member Adam there but I was in a rush to get home and set up for a party that afternoon. I excused my t…[Read more]

I was going to bleed my breaks and the bleeder fittings are seriously tight. I’ve sprayed PB Blaster on them to loosen them up but was wondering if I can remove the bleeder, put a light coat of anti-seize compound on the threads. Then install the bleeder and bleed the brakes.

I want to put 3 point seat belts in my car by securing the top part of the belt to the seat/top fixture right behind the seats. Anyone done this?

I will add that Ed (edsnova) was driving it like he meant it, dodging in and out of traffic like the other cars were traffic cones on an autocross track……..Looking real good Ed.

Greg, sounds like your brushes are not making good contact. The brushes are typically blocks of carbon which are held in to make contact the commutator by springs. You probably either need new brushes or perhaps new springs. I would be surprised if someone on YouTube has not posted a repair. All generators are pretty much the same (except in…[Read more]

Hey Roy! Yeah. I’m in. Hoping to share a room with someone this year as we’re heading for some lean times at chez Eduardo. Dale—let me know if you’re up for it.

Two questions: 1) Would those hubcaps fit stock 4-lug VW wheels? 2) If so, where did you get them?
