Only problem I’m having is I cannot post more than one picture as I have to have the location copied to the clipboard before I write because if I navigate away from the page to get another pix everything I have written is deleted and I have to start with a clean page.
Fix?

I had a Allison MGTD but sold it. I am now going to look at a MGTD with pinto engine. According to VIN I think it is a Fiber Fab. How are these compared to the Allison on VW pan? What bothers me is in my search is this car would have had the frame built. Someone would have to be really good or I think there would be problems. With a VW pan I w…[Read more]

“All the kids are wrapping their cars “.
You gotta dance with the girl what brung ya. With all the work that you have done to try and make your car as TDish as you could……?????  (and don’t tell me that TD’s didn’t have clear coat on them 🙂 )

Here’s the first color coat double-blocked with 600 grit. I kinda like this matte finish. All the kids are wrapping their cars to look kinda like this…
So what do you think, boys? Shoot two more coats and clear it? Or just scrub the whole car with a scotchbrite and call it a day?

Clutch chatter sometimes comes from the wrong Bowden tube. Make sure it dips about an inch, to an inch and a half. Another thing to check is the transmission mounts. If there’s some give in those, replace them. The last common possibility is the disc or pressure plate. If a little oil gets on it or something like that you can get chatter. But…[Read more]

It’s just a flat piece of glass. Any good glass shop, not necessarily a windshield specialist, should be able to cut a new one given a sample. They should know you will need laminated safety glass, but you might want to remind them. I’ve had a couple done this way.

I tend to get my cork valve cover gaskets from a vendor at VW shows. I manage to keep a dozen on hand as spares and when I get down to four gaskets, I pick up some more at the next VW show. I usually get them cheaper there.
