Well, it’s paint day, boys.
Final primer-sealer coat this afternoon followed by the red stuff. Looks a lot better this time around but of course I got a nasty run on the scuttle and gouged out a wet spot with the sprayer. And a couple spots not yet quite covering.
So it goes.
More on the blog.

Everything is running like a German watch, except…COLD start is first time, idles at 900rpm when warm but restarting the warm engine is VERY sluggish…seems…[Read more]

My Fiberfab MG TD Replica has a cracked windshield. None of the big guys that advertise will do it. Any ideas on how to get it replaced without buying the entire glass, frame and all? Also my chassis is a 1968 Beetle that shakes in first gear when letting out on the clutch but does fine in other gears. Any recommendations/Ideas to cause and…[Read more]

Greg. ALWAYS go with the cork gaskets. Even VW at the Chattanooga car plant says to stick with the cork gaskets.

I agree that a custom radiator is your best option. In this way, you can be sure of proper dimension.

Cool Ed!
Glad you have a new project.
I spent the weekend cleaning my garage so I could get back to my Speedster project – now need to get something done.

No update. Decided to worry about that after I get the car on the road. Perhaps I’ll consider it sometime next year. Once I drive her around I’ll know if I really want to go that route.

Following Roy’s sage advice I have been working with No Paint. Just a sponge, a bucket and a sheet of 400.
Seems to be working.

I got the wheels bolted on snug (thanks again, Allen) and shot some truck bed liner up under the fenders to cover the ‘glass work and (supposedly) prevent star cracking from rocks and such.
