I’ve got a TDR with a modern 2.2L Chevy engine. I use her as a daily driver here in SoCal so I use the freeways all the time. 70 MPH is more comfortable than a bike but less than an enclosed car. On the other hand get used to getting your picture taken and the waves and honks.
My brother tours all over the world on his Honda Goldwing.…[Read more]

Cliff,
Welcome!
I have a 1641 VW in my TDr and drive on the interstates as needed without trouble although I stay in the right lane unless passing slower traffic. But… I do not enjoy this much at all and much prefer driving the smaller roads and taking in the true USA. If you make a plan I think the trip is as much the idea as the d…[Read more]

edsnova – yes my bows are as you have described the basic two bows made from marine grade tubing. I am just thinking it would be nice to somehow replicate the ability to take them apart like the MGB bows pictured above.
ScubaSteve – My current top is supposed to be white but is more like a grey from age. MG Magic can give you the tub dimensions…[Read more]

Took another look, the first (Bogert’s) and last (Kreidersville) bridges on the tour are pedestrian traffic only.
So there is a minor backtrack to get to my place, putting me about 9 miles away, not 6.

That looks SO nice! 😀 I’ve always thought tonneau covers look cool 😎 . Is your top also black? I’ve thought about getting one for my London Roadster. But the LR’s seem to be a little differently dimensioned than other TDr’s so I’m not sure about the fit.
Yours DOES look good!

I’ve never seen a place made to be able to do that, on purpose anyway. Drove a ’69 Toyota Corona across the rocky shallows of a river once with a couple girls on the roof to get across to a gathering of people with 4X4’s. I’m seldom that brave but the water only reached into the floor of that little car and I had the extra weight to help…[Read more]

Didn’t see any Fords either. Just a Subaru, and a couple of other cars. No Ford. BUT…I did see a Fjord.

Thanks for the clarification, Paul.
I gotta say…regarding that ford…I did not see any sports cars in the video.

The TDr bows are simpler than that: lightweight aluminum tube and clamps and hinges from a boat supply place. Basically it’s the same stuff they use on bimini tops. You can mount them so they fold down inside the tub.

Toller – The Tonneau comes without snaps attached. The guy that fitted the tonneau used my existing top snaps for the back and added the ones for the door and over the dash. (I have never had the side curtains fitted). MG Magic included all the snaps you need and the number is assuming you have no snaps installed on the car. They even give you a s…[Read more]

Did all of the snaps match up or did you have to relocate/add some snaps on the body? Will you be abandoning the top for the tonneau cover or modify the tonneau to fit around the top pivot bracket?

Looks great. I’ll have to order a white one from them. Fitment on the one that was originally with the kit was too tight and it eventually tore.

Bob,
I just took a look at Google maps. It appears to be just a matter of distance.
If you cross the Geiger Bridge, the drive to Schlicher’s Bridge is nine miles.
If you backtrack as the brochure map recommends, it’s 2.7 miles.
And apparently, the Jordan Creek Ford at Trexler Nature Preserve is meant to be driven across! Take a…[Read more]
