Scubasteve. I use your method for all vehicles except my Silverado. I use all, over the shoulder, mirrors but trust the rear view camera for what’s just behind the truck bed where I can’t see.

Thanks guys. I’ll have to map out the route for the ones in NE Georgia. Not as many of them as are in PA.

I have a mapped out covered bridge ride in Delaware/Chester/Lancaster Counties that the Historical Car Club of PA does for its Spring Run. The run is limited to members of the club but if you want the route I can forward it to you.

The other alternative is to join HCCP, the fees are $15.00 a year, and show up for the Blossom Run (this year it w…[Read more]

When I learned to drive; back in the 1970’s, we were taught to turn 1/2 around in the seat and look over your right shoulder while backing. I have done it this way ever since.
When I learned to drive a school bus, we were taught how to back using the mirrors. It is a little trickier than the over the shoulder method but works for larger…[Read more]

I mapped out a prospective run in Northern Delaware a few years ago, ending at Stoney’s, a British pub. But it never came together.

Bill, Paul, Ed. Along the lines of shows and rides, is there any type of organized “covered bridge” tour or rides up in your neck o the woods? I think that’d be a fun thing to go to.

That does look like fun. Last couple years, I’ve been doing the Historic Races at Lime Rock on that weekend…maybe switch it up this year if people are into it.

I added one to my truck. I have it on a toggle switch so I can keep an eye on the MG while she’s being towed.

Has anyone thought of adding a rear view camera in their TDr? I would think the back-up camera would work fine. Just connect it to a power wire rather than to the back-up light wire. I already have a 1 DIN and 2 DIN radio with 7 inch screen. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info Kent. Definitely want my brake lights to burn brightly.

To answer your original question, Allen. Yes, one filament (the tall one, I think — from memory) is brighter than the other. So it does matter a bit — they’ll still work either way. But, you get more contrast/difference wired one way compared to the other. Just be prepared to swap terminals there before you tighten everything up…

Bob. My tail light assemblies are VW assemblies (I believe) and have two separate sockets. The top socket has one wire and is for the turn signal. The bottom socket has one bulb with two filaments (tail and brake) with two wires of the same color and thickness. Neither socket has a ground wire and I have to add the grounds to both sockets. Just w…[Read more]

Hi Allen.
David said “filaments” inside the bulbs so I’m not sure if you misread what he was saying.
I believe there would be 2 contacts for the brake bulb so it can act as both normal light and brake light, therefore 2 wires going to it. I’m thinking maybe since you say “both wires”, meaning 2, that could mean one is the brake and other is…[Read more]

I checked the tail/brake light sockets. Both wires going to the socket are the same diameter wire. I’ll have to get her all wired up and when I turn on the lights I’ll be able to see which connection is which. Cold and wind chill here in middle GA (yes it does get to below 32F down here) so I’ll have to wait until the temps get up a little higher.…[Read more]

Absolutely, there are two filaments in an incandescent bulb. The thick one is for brakes and the thinner one for tail lights. If you have changed the bulb holder to a SAE 1157 style you will likely have to test which wire is energized when the head lights are turned on and then test to see which element is connected to which wire on the socket.…[Read more]

A quick tail light electrical question. In the tail light assembly, I know the top bulb is the turn signal and the bottom is the tail light and brake light. My question is does it matter which wire gets the tail light power or the brake light power? Thanks.

That does look pretty cool.
There’s an annual classic and street rod show on the Wildwood boardwalk. Friends that have attended report that it’s a blast!
