I moved the e-brake on 2 VW-based TDr’s (one Fiber Fab and one BCW) following Ed’s excellent BLOG. I highly recommend doing this project — but it does take time and effort — and patience and small hands…!!!
And everyone needs a winter project or 2…

I just posted pictures of my car, which is a FiberFab (molded into the cowl under the hood). Under the seat I also found the original receipt for a cashier’s check issued to FiberFab on August 3, 1983, in the amount of $4985. In my case, there was a 16 year gap between the purchase price and the first titling of the car in 1999. Hard to ima…[Read more]

FYI – I didn’t move the brake on my car, the original builder did that. What I did do with the brake was remove the heater and defroster handles from the unit. This narrowed down the assembly and took out those pointy little parts, and I also removed the tops of the adjustment screws, something I’ll probably regret later. My changes, ho…[Read more]

Don B started the topic Cooling question in the forum VW Based Kits 8 years, 9 months ago
I have a FiberFab VW based TDr. The engine cover that holds the spare tire is cut out to almost the size of tire. Does this need cut out to help in engine cooling? I have a lot of openings around the engine that seems to be enough for cooling even if that opening is closed, but I want to make sure. I plan on changing the looks of my spare and I…[Read more]

As I recall there is a different front valance and a few other tell-tales. Need a MiGi person to chime in with details.

Gary if you could take a few pictures we might be able to help you Idenetify which td you have?
If you go into the library at the top of the page there is a quick listing of the different manufactures.

Great work, John. A lot of really nice detail. Good on you, too, for keeping those kids out in the garage instead of in the basement where they usually end up.

Does anyone know of manual(s) for the London Roadster? I cannot figure out why the oil pressure, tach and oil pressure gauges do not work. Thanks…

Tombstones? LOL, I never thought of that! They were just intended to mimic the shape of the dashboard while acting as head restraints but now that you mention it … yeah, tombstones! Maybe I should also get little skull decorations for the car, too! 😀
The “engine turned” part to the instrument panel is just an applique to an original TD…[Read more]

John. Loved the photos. I really like the look of the wide whitewalls. Plus I like the windshield post end caps as well. Excellent workmanship.

Super nice work John. I like the use of the engine turned center section of the dash…..in fact, the whole dash is darker than most – I like it. Where did you get the hinges for the glove box/radio door?
A really spectacular TDr, (except for the seat backs which look like tombstones). Please don’t take offense, I’m hard to please – I never li…[Read more]
