The Penny Marie is a Grand Duchess and I fill the tank by removing the factory Eagle hood ornament that stands above the front grill. I like to think of it as “It’s where the Eagle Sh@#$”. It took the dealer and me a while to find the gas tank when I bought the car from the classic car dealership. We both laughed when we found it.
I do have to…[Read more]

Would you support the idea of entering the topic name in the tag box to facilitate searches or is that redundant?

I agree with Kall. Edsnova taught me how to do this. The hardest part is finding a capillary tube, and the scariest part was drilling a tiny hole for it into the gas tank neck. Once that was done, it was just a matter of gluing the tube into the neck with the right kind of epoxy and routing the capillary tube. I looped mine up over a litt…[Read more]

You are correct. Tags help search engines find stuff.
More specifically, tags are a way for a forum to file topics in an organized manner, making it simpler to retrieve those topics in search results when you’re using the forum’s search function.
A tag is one word. If you are entering more than one tag, separate them by commas.
Tags don’t…[Read more]

Could someone please explain the “topic tags” box? I suspect that it has to do with the effectiveness of the search function and so we should be using it. Maybe just re-enter the topic title in that box?

Regarding the vented cap – I started out with a vented cap but got complaints from passengers about gas smell. Since the evap system from my engine was long gone I ended up switching to a non-vented cap, adding a vent at the highest part of the fuel tank and routing it under the chassis to the rear of the car.

Pardon me for stating the “obvious” but the fuel tank filler and the open side of the hood should match.

First I thought it was because of the “trailer” when your account and tag are for a passenger car. But NJ’s EZ Pass web site says:
“…the equipment in the lane is designed to identify that your vehicle is pulling a trailer and you will be charged accordingly. However, if you think this will be a regular occurrence, you should call the C…[Read more]

If you are able to clean the tank and it is serviceable, I recommend you seal it with something like POR-15 Fuel Tank Sealer.

Assuming that nothing else was changed coincident with relocation of fuel filter then I would focus on filter and connections. Verify that hose clamps on fuel lines are tight and that filter is not damaged. If okay, then would remove the filter and reconnect lines to see if problem is eliminated and there was a problem with the filter. Some…[Read more]

So I moved the fuel filter from the engine compartment to the area behind the big shroud looking thing behind the engine. The car starts and runs but it dies on idle. I have no idea what to do now. I’ve thought about adjusting the idle but not sure if that’s the right thing to do. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

If you getting false readings from the fuel sender check the orientation of the float or length of the lever on the float in the gas tank. I found that the float had been installed incorrectly in my 68 VW donor and was giving low fuel readings when the tank was half full. I rotated the sender so the float was pointing towards the front of the…[Read more] -

Mine is also passenger side rear. When installing, try to level the tank as much as possible. The builder of my car put the tank so it angles downward toward the front. This means my gas gauge sometimes seems to “hang” and also reads full even when not really full.
