When asked if its a kit I usually tell them it used to be. Once assembled it’s no longer a kit.

  • Dave. Mine is a VDO gauge that secures to the dash with the two threaded rods and the aluminum bridge bracket you mentioned. I haven’t thought of using a wooden plug drilled out to fit the gauge. I could glue the plug into the dash and countersink three screws on the back side into the plug for extra security. Of course, whatever method I use, I…[Read more]

    Beautiful response Roy.

Are they VDO gauges? If so do they use a plastic ring or two threaded rods and a standoff aluminum bridge bracket for mounting. If the latter as you stated the hole in the dash is of a larger diameter than the bezel (2.2″) so putting some layers of veneer in the dash hole will not allow you to tighten the nuts on rods to sandwich the bezel of…[Read more]

  • While I was letting my tonneau cover dry after cleaning, I decided it was time to mount the voltmeter I got from MG magic. Harness was ready and I just needed to install the voltmeter. Well…..the voltmeter fits but I cannot tighten the mount nuts. Seems the voltmeter body outer diameter (including the face bezel) is just a tad bit smaller than…[Read more]

  • Well my Lift-The-Dots, tool and canvass cleaner just arrived. Now if it’ll not rain today I might actually get something done that I can report results to. Canvass cleaner is for my stained and dirty tonneau cover. As mentioned, I’ll let you know the results. Photos as well if I can figure out the new camera.

This morning, Jack and I had breakfast together, he in his TDr and I in my classic Mini.  A fellow came into the room and asked whose TD it was.  Jack acknowledged that it was his.  “Is it real, or a kit?”  Jack responded it’s a kit.  The guy gave us an Ohhhhhhh!,  in such a voice as to show a definite disappointment.  Then he went on to tell u…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the analysis Bill! 🙂

We have time to work this out, but…

West Lawn is one hour and fifteen minutes from home. Add in the eight hours you estimate and that means well over nine hours on the road. If I drive the most direct route from home, it’s just over six hours. That’s a big difference.

I may decide to drive the direct route.

  • Working backwards, MapQuest shows just under 3 hours from meeting Shu in Port Royal to the Oceanfront Hotel.

We have 2 hours from Ed’s rendezvous in Linthicum Heights to Port Royal.

That’s just under 2 hours from Denver, PA where we’ve hooked up with Vicenc before. (Vicenc, is this stop OK, or would you prefer using RT.30 and meeting in…[Read more]

    ???   Sorry, not enough information.

Greg. I checked my ignition module hookup and what I posted was not correct. I have the Accu-Fire Ignition Module and for mine the instructions say the RED wire from the ignition module connects to the coil positive (+) terminal (#15) and the BLACK wire from the ignition module connects to the coil negative (-) terminal (#1). I still think that…[Read more]

How early were you suggesting meeting? And where did we meet last time? Two years is too long ago for my feeble memory.

The drive straight from my house by the shortest highway route is just over six hours via the bay bridge/tunnel route (I-476 to  I-95 to  DE-1 to US-113 S and US-13 S to 30th St in Virginia Beach, the bay/bridge tunnel…[Read more]

  • The suggestion was made last year concerning arrival time in VA Beach. I’m OK with leaving a couple hours earlier, but Paul that makes your departure time really really early. Any thoughts, suggestions, derissions?

The coil has two connections where smaller wires are either bolted or push-on connected. On one side (terminal #1) is a thin wire (usually green) that goes from the coil to the distributor (or electronic ignition module); on the other side (terminal 15) are wires (usually black) that brings power from the ignition switch; a fused wire to the b…[Read more]
