Stephen Houser replied to the topic New site, new forums, new… everything? in the forum Site Input and Issues 9 years, 2 months ago
I just installed a new plugin to try and cut down the SPAM accounts. It requires an administrator to approve new registrations rather than letting the registrant do it alone by email.
Please let me know if it causes problems.
I’m looking for a better solution.
UPDATE: I found a plugin that tracks “spammers” and “sploggers” across lots of other…[Read more]

ahh.. There are a bunch of links within posts that didn’t get fixed during the migration. I’ve got the beginnings of a a script to fix them, just haven’t had the time. It is on my list though. I’ll let you know when it gets done.

You can change your password. Click on your name and avatar at the top right of the screen, then click settings. Just put in your new password and save changes.
it does have to more “complex” than before, but you can change it from what it was set to.

Well, I listed it on Craigslist and WOW…..
Within 24 hours, 7 contacts, all scammers. Not one person interested at $5,500.
I did have one guy (high likelihood of a scammer) said $3k cash and not a penny more.
Here’s the link:

You can narrow the front track of a VW to make it look more like a real TD. I put one like this on my car:

IMHO, nothing makes a TDR look more “fakey” than the wide VW track with the tires sticking out beyond the fenders. The narrowed beam really makes the TDR look a lot more l…[Read more]

Both Bug and Ghia convertibles have an additional metal channel-type reinforcement that bolts under the perimeter of the floorpan, underneath the doors.

So that brings up a new question. Were bugs destined for convertable bodies factory-reinforced, making them more suitable for kit car conversions?

Sorry if this has been brought up but I don’t find the search tab anywhere. Anyway….I’m ready to purchase a battery for Moneypenny. Just wondering what type of battery I can use. The standard battery or the jel cell? I’m hoping for the gel cell as I used that on my Ghia but the battery in the Ghia was in the engine compartment and my battery…[Read more]

Late to the party, I know, but eliminating the chassis flex isn’t that tough. Well, maybe it is if you’ve already put your car together.
Welding square tubing into the channel at the sides of the VW pan will replace a lot of the stiffness previously supplied by the steel body. (Convertibles already have the channel filled.)

When I click on the highlighted “photo” option for the existing members, I get a blank page and

Not Found

It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try a search?
Could this be because of the recent changes and the links are no longer valid?

Thanks Ed. I’d much rather stick with an American made tire, if I can find them. Ironic, I know, considering the origin of half the car.

I just got 5 from discounttiredirect.com
165/80-15 Nexens, I think. Still need to mount them. The old ones are only 6 years old and have just 20,000 or so miles on them. But it’s time.
