Good thinking!
Reduce, reuse, recycle!
Necessity is the mother of invention (and Frank Zappa was the Bandleader!)

Found a better solution today while talking with HOA member. He said he’d go to Harbor Freight and get their greenhouse kit. HOA will approve that no problem as there are several in subdivision. So…problem solved. Moneypenny will have a nice home out of elements until garage is built in spring.

So here is a low cost but durable shelter idea that I have used to cover material outside at my previous work.1. Obtain the frame from a formerly fabric covered structure which has lost its’ cover. Usually available for the privilege of hauling it away.2. Erect the framework, pinning the joints with sheet metal screws.3. Purchase or otherwise o…[Read more]

Built on a 1980 Bug, and has a 2 liter engine?Last standard Beetle imported was a 1973, I think. Last Super Beetle was a 1979 Convertible. The last few years only convertibles were imported. That has to be build date, kit mfg date, initial registration/titling date, or something else…That’s likely a Type 3 (square back/fastback) engine block…[Read more]

Ya know, I think our “slimy lawyer” friend may have it!I know nothing about air cooled vs’s except the T1. Looks like the T3 oil fill is where the “spare” filler is on this TDr.This may be a FrankenVW.Thanks Vicenc!

The ebay sale didn’t go through but the car is still listed on the dealer’s website: http://www.mbmotorsports.com/used/MG/1982-MG-TD-Tinton+Falls+NJ-de5a7c0e0a0a00bf2da0fb76db990835.htm
There the specs (below) list it as a 2 liter engine. That may have something to do with the strange oil t… -

Looking that over I realized there wasn’t an oil dipstick, not that I can see anyhow. Maybe that cap is really a dipstick inside that tube?
Still not knowing much of anything about VW’s there’s no way I would know if that was a certain model year but it almost seems original to that particular engine. -

This is the tag that came with my recently acquired unused kit, as well as original receipt from 1986

Mine also came that way.
It states No. FM 1078 but also MG-TD.After the car was completed it was required to be inspected by the Sectary of State. Once it passed inspection, a SOS number was issued. Both are shown on the title. I mounted both to front of firewall. -
Bob replied to the topic Fiberfab ID Numbers in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 9 years, 9 months ago
Mine wasn’t mounted anywhere, the PO/builder had put it into a notebook of pictures and paperwork about the car.
Here’s the picture of it I posted elsewhere a while ago, and as you can see the model was left blank. I’ve yet to see, or rather look for, something on any part of the car.I only know the metal plate matches what’s on the paper title. -
KentT replied to the topic Fiberfab ID Numbers in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 9 years, 9 months ago
My early FiberFab doesn’t have an ID plate either. It does have either a serial number or a part number on the firewall under the hood, below the left (driver’s) windshield wiper, or thereabouts. I could make no sense of it either…

You mean there’s supposed to be a FiberFab ID plate . . . ? No matter what it means, you’re one step ahead of me.
