Sold my towbar a couple of years ago(bummer). Guess I will look for another one. It sounds like a good trip. I have a frien I helped restore his 1963 corvair spider. Maybe I can enlist his company.

Towing it there is fine. Several of the regular attendees tow their cars. I’ll probably tow mine to the hotel and then drive her while there.

Thank you. I hope I could get my TD reliable enough for a road trip(or maybe tow it if not). I need to install sheet metal around the engine to help cooling. The previous owner did not and I am hesitant to drive too far too long.

Dana,The Carlisle show is an annual extravaganza held in May in Carlisle, PA. Each year we try to beat the last year attendance and so far, we’ve been successful. Watch for more info about Carlisle. You may even find a group traveling close to you that you could hook up with and caravan with. Paul Mossberg usually lets us know about registering.…[Read more]

I tried installing the quick shift kit yesterday.I can’t seem to get it adjusted so that all the gears are working as they should. Mostly 2nd and reverse. I took it off and now I got reverse working ok (pushing down on shifter to engage),but 2nd gear still wants to be a bit rough. If I get 2nd working ok I then can engage reverse without pushing…[Read more]

I have speaker wires running to a headphone jack in the parking brake housing. iPhone via Bluetooth to the radio. With the acquisition of a new dash panel, I think I’ll just delete the radio entirely and just use Bluetooth ear buds with the iPhone.

Thanks again, BrothersThose examples of the dash work look great! My only concern is with the sun reflecting back on me. The top stays down unless its raining and many a time Ive returned home lobster red and that was with the wooden dash. I do want it to keep that original look so Im looking to possibly cover it with an exotic vaneer like Burl…[Read more]

What I did for grounds on my chassis was drill a hole for each stud, thread it, insert an exhaust manifold stud and weld it to the chassis. I have one in the front near the frame head, one on the top of the tunnel up front for instruments etc., and one in the back on each side of the frame for the engine and lights.

Here’s a small one, done on a Bridgeport Mill. I submit you could do as well with a drillpress if you made a die frame for the piece and moved it very carefully as you went.
All that said, If I were you I’d use the aluminum to make a center cluster (engine-turn that!) and use a piece of 3/8 marine ply for the main dash. Cover it in marine vinyl (I… -

Regardless of whether or not it fits your car, somebody buy this top and side curtains and stash them for the day when someone else has the right car and needs a top. If no one wants to do that I will gladly take them and I don’t even have a TDR, yet.

Rick,
Give some thought to engine turning the aluminum panel. You can do it with an inexpensive drill press and a lot of patience.BDriver -

Roofs and side curtains vary from one kit manufacturer to another.
None of them are the same as or will fit on original MG TD. And vice versa. An original MG TD top will not fit a replica. Some might interchange between manufacturers. But just as one example, I am fairly confident no roof from another manufacturer will fit on a Classic Ro… -

Steven, The picture of the frame is the one that I have.John, Never changed the front coil over’s or the rear shocks. The rear shocks need replacing and I will have to figure out what to use. It may be possible to put the coil over springs on a new shock to keep the same strength spring as there isn’t much weight in the frontend and to keep the…[Read more]
